you got to remember wladimir was on the front foot against sanders and got caught. wladimir is vulnerable when he throws that right hand and misses it, and bloody hell doesn't he leave himself totally open. wladimir has crap survival skills and panicks, but he does have a good jab when he throws it with full intention and has one of the hardest right hands in heavyweight history in my opinion, but that's only when he's not too scared to throw it.

That was 7 years ago,he's a completely different fighter now, more safety first, which I have no problem with. He's not as exciting but he's done what needed to be done to become a success. Same goes for Amir, nowhere near as exciting as before but effective.
Wlad will pick and pick and pick away at an opponent until they are no longer a threat to him, then start throwing the bombs. If he does miss the opponent represents no real danger to him as they've been broken down.

I also dont believe Haye has one punch knock out power at heavyweight. Still hits hard but not to the extreme some believe.

The only way I see Haye winning is not to box, like he did against Valuev, but to fly in early and hope to get lucky. How can you out box a man with a jab like Wlads? I just dont think it can be done, not by David anyway.

haye won't be able to outbox wladimir, he's not good enough to do that, but he is fast enough to land a counter while on the backfoot.

wladimir is a very good boxer, but it's hard to see what he's like when he gets hit because frankly he hasn't been hit in a few years now, which is due to wladimir being too good, but he hasn't fought someone with haye's speed and power for a while now.

i'm not saying haye will beat wladimir because wladimir can knock haye out with a single right hand aswell.

He was never going to beat Valuev any other way. He executed a perfect game plan.

Plus, he did say that the Valuev fight was boring which was why he promised to revert to type for the Ruiz fight.

    No.

If his hand was not injured he could've pushed himself a lot more and who knows, maybe get a terrific stoppage on his record.

What is it about Valuev that means he had to fight so cautiously?
He has no real power of note.
That may fly with casual fans who actually believe Valuev was a dangerman thanks to a 10 year old clip of him beating on Barrett which Sky burned on our brains.
Obvioulsy he didn't want to get involved in too many clinches but he should've attacked more. His game plan was nearly there, he just needed to work harder.

I will conceed he fought the right game plan if

    A-his hand was injured or
B-His stamina wouldn't allow him to fight at a respectable pace(he was breathing heavily without being hit or doing anything)

If its B-he has NO CHANCE against Wlad or Vitali.

Maybe it is B and thats why he's considering Audley or Has Been???

You're right in that Valuev is not exactly a KO artist, but it's more the strength than the power which, for me, meant Haye fought the right fight. What's the alternative? He gets inside, throws some bombs only to be clinched up and leant all over? Yeah, there's a chance he may have knocked out Valuev, indeed he wobbled him in the last so what's to say he wouldnt have kayoed him had he tried a little earlier. But adopting that tactic means there's a chance he could drain lots of stamina. Not to say he would have gassed, but there was a risk he could have gassed. Why take that risk against someone that's never been stopped before and (regardless of what you think of his boxing ability) had never really been hurt before.

Or make an easy nights work of it, stay out of range and pick up a title?

Haye's provided excitement throughout his career, but he doesnt owe anyone anything. His priority should always be to win by whatever means necessary. He did that against Valuev. He provided the excitement in plenty of his other fights.

I dont think he'd adopt the same approach against the Klits, particularly Wlad, as they are too fast at closing the gap to get away with it. So he'll have to go hell for leather as his best way to win. Against Valuev, he didnt need to do that. So didnt.

Im not saying his plan was ALL wrong. He fought in tiny bursts,in and out. Being as he's in Germany,or even if it was in the UK actually, his attacks should've been more frequent. The fact one of the judges scored the fight as a draw,do you not agree with me?
