It's a potential minefield, I mean Salita was absolutely terrible but there was no mention of him losing his purse.

The board shouldn't have sanctioned the fight in the first place, let's be honest because it was a potentially dangerous mismatch. It's a good job Audley has a shaky chin and questionable heart for the battle otherwise it could have been messy.

Pay him and revoke his licence if they feel the need to make a statement.

And ask Haye to provide bank statements about the betting instead of just letting it slide.

Scurla brought this possibility up in the week and IMHO (and his) its one of those BBBofC rules that will turn out to be unenforcible by law as soon as a boxer challenges it.

    I'd imagine so.

I'm not an expert on boxing contracts so you'll have to ask Rob about this :hey but I'd imagine Audley would sign a contract with Hayemaker to be in suitable condition to contest in a boxing match overseen by the board, i.e. be able to pass a medical.

For me, once the board approves the contest (which it must have done) it's fair game.... none of the Maloney Eurobums have lost money.... so why should Audley?

Audley is Audley.... what the hell did they expect?

Why is there no pressure on the sanctioning bodies, Hayemaker themselves for seeking a fight with Audley and David Haye himself for fighting such a terrible boxer.

I'd gladlly get knocked out by David Haye for 500k (or whatever the fee was) and I don't blame Audley for doing the same.

Maybe I'm missing something here. The WBA sanctioned the fight under WBA rules. The BBBoC Licence the fight to go ahead under the controls they outline. There was no purse bid so the sanctioning bodies get paid their fees and the fighters payment is a personal contract between promoter and boxer. As I see it the BBBoc has no authorisation or power to withhold payment from Harrison. Am I getting this wrong?

    :deal

Everyone else is covering their arses by blaming Audley, even though he has much less to answer for than them.

Board tells Hayemaker not to pay Audley in full

General Secretary of the British Boxing Board of Control, Robert Smith, has revealed that the regulatory body has advised Hayemaker Promotions not to pay Audley Harrison his full share of his purse for last Saturday's WBA heavyweight title debacle.
Harrison's incredibly poor effort against champion David Haye - in which he barely landed a blow and collapsed at the first sustained attack in the third round - has drawn vitriol from fight fans and the general public alike.
Calls were made from some quarters, including promoter Frank Maloney, that Harrison's performance was so appalling that he should not be paid for it, especially as it's rumoured to be a whopping £1.5 million.
"With Audley, some of the money has been paid but the promoter has been advised not to pay all the money until after our deliberations," Smith said.
The Board will also discuss Haye's statements regarding gambling on the outcome of his own match.

Yeah but the problem is with betting on a particular round, say if you've got a guy ready to go in the 3rd but hold back and let him survive because you've bet on yourself to win the 4th that screws over people who've bet money on you winning in the 3rd and thats wrong. It'd like be a striker missing a penalty on purpose late on in a game because his teams winning 2-0 and that's what he's bet on.

Audley should get all his money, he took some big shots, got up after the kd it's not like he took a dive he was just in over his head.
