Haye does not throw a lot of punches for two reasons. 1 ) He doesn't have the stamina to move around and at the same time throw punches. 2 ) By throwing more punches, he opens himself up to being hit. While Haye has very good speed and power, I think we will quickly know how he will do vs Chsiroa. If Haye lands a solid right and Chisroa hardly blinks, he's going to be tracked down and taken out.
ATG footwork.... ****ing idiots... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_k0jgPFQLw"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_k0jgPFQLw[/ame]
I think thats what plagues boxing ..The boxers of the past may not know as much about the body as they do today but one thing they did know is boxing which is severly lacking into today's game ..All these so called advancements have hindered the sport of boxing ..You may have stronger fighters but half these guys can't box for a full 3 minutes ! Long distance running was good for two things one of course cardio and two mental. You have to remember that most boxing matches are like a marathon ..Mentally you have to prepare for the long fight . How else can you do that ? With short distance sprints ? I don't think so ..Yes swiming is great as well as cycling but with boxing your on your feet .
You're not a boxing fan. You're a "boxing brother duo" fan. If I have to explain that to you how great footwork allows you to punch with your opponent as they are coming in, while leaving yourself an exit, you obviously DKSAB.
How can a 36 minute boxing match with one minute breaks every 3 minutes possibly resemble a marathon :huh Is the intensity of a long distance run the same as a 3 minute boxing round? It's not even close. What sort of fighter wouldn't be able to prepare themselves mentally to work for half an hour? I'm pretty sure they train for more than half an hour at a time, doing actual boxing work instead of jogging around a park. Come on man you can't be that daft.
Look at how well he maintains range, look at the small steps he takes in and out of range, look at how he has Haye lunging to land punches while he steps back with perfect balance, look at how light he is on his feet at 6'5. That shows how great his footwork is.
Crossing his feet.. Not knowing where to step when pressed. God damn, some of you are absolute daisies when it comes to this dude. Though admittedly, I don't have much experience with Klitards.
Depends on what you mean. He's a big man and considering just how big he is, he is very good at getting out of the way of punches - and he always maintains balance unlike e.g. Haye. That's part of footwork too and he does those things very well.
You hit the nail on the head. Longer distances could improve his cardiovascular system, allowing him to throw more than 20 punches a round. I'd rather have stamina than short burst explosive based conditioning if I were a fighter.
Haye was frustrating that night, wasn't he. Land a right hand, and instead of following up and closing in he resets at Wlad's optimal range. Yeah, not his style but he had to know this sort of thing. That was his only chance... as Lampley said, "And he follows it up with... nothing."
