He fights and beats Wlad? How would you feel and what would he be thought of a few years down the line after retirement?
If (& its a big if) he beats Chagaev/Povetkin then Wlad & retires he'll be a 2-weight lineal world champ & go down as one of the better modern British boxers. He'll also become even more popular with the general public & casual boxing fans, propelling his Hollywood career. A lot of people from ESB will always hate him, regardless of results.
If he beats Wlad I would give him credit but he needs to fight Pov or Boystov and show us something either than fighing Farces in Britain
Haye would be looked upon a lot higher if he didnt have that mout of his. Cruiserweight champ that moved up to take the WBA belt from Valuev but ducked the Klitchkos.
Wlad already is in my books. But if haye retires in october after two fights there is nothing he could do to become an atg
he does need to fight atleast one,if not both,to be considered a great fighter. at the moment he is a good one, exciting, and has achieved a bit so far(2 weight champion,3 titles,no 1 rank crusierweight),but short of fights and needs more better opposition to be considered better.
Obviously an ATG British fighter if he does this really. It is not easy to be undisputed at Heavy and Cruiser. Both need the other really to cemate any type of legacy.
How about his legacy if he fights and gets KO'd by Povetkin... That chance is a hell of a lot bigger I recon. :think
Douglas didn't make a legacy just because he beat Tyson, and he did two things Haye refuses to try - actually FIGHT the no1 HW and obviously BEAT him. So in other words, 'legacy' is a bridge too far for Haye.
