Does anyone seriously think that if Haye hated Audley all that much he'd hand him a totally undeserved dream ticket to a HW title fight (something even Audley in his wildest dreams couldn't have ever really imagined happening), something that would never be handed to him by anyone else and a payday Audley will not get close to ever seeing again. Get real guys.
I very much doubt that. Imho, he's clearly purposely gone out of his way to say offending remarks, then not back down, say remarks that he knows will caught a response - grab headlines, and get extra coverage for his fight. We've all seen the media fuss kicked up about some of his unsavoury comments. I'd hardley say Haye has been holding his tongue. In my opinion he's just playing the typical bad guy (disliked guy) promotion role, it's one Audley can do very well too (the loud mouth, over confident, disliked guy - it sells), but being the underdog, clearly the plan is for him to play the quiet 'nice guy', the underdog, with a hint of a Rocky story line thrown in to, while Haye provides the yin to the yang.
I saw ringside on Sky last night and I'd say Haye knows this is a bull**** fight. He was sat there with a face like a slapped arse and barely spoke. IMHO he's taken this fight because Sky put a lot of money down and it secures his future completely. It would surprise me hugely if his next opponent wasn't entirely more credible.
He's playing the pantomime villain but he's not getting too far into the actual mechanics of the fight, why its happening and why he and Booth took it though, is he? For someone who's supposed to be a "straight shooter" like Haye, that must be frustrating.
Haye knows he lied to people and disappointed millions of fans by not backing up his words. It must be hard for him to come on TV knowing that his smoke screen of lies has long been exposed. He is now trying to promote a fight that he said he never wanted for months and he actually laughed off Audley as an opponent over the last 6 months. Now he's there saying how this is the fights "fans wanted". Ridiculous.
Is there a chance that by playing the villain he might alienate some of the 'casuals' from buying future fights? Dont quite think loose women would have him back on
I don't know mate, theres a couple on there that look like they might like a good gangbang. At the very least it might shut the ****ers up for a couple of hours!
The pay day works both ways mate....you wouldn't cut your nose off to spite your face when getting the vast bulk of a £10m pot in what is a 10x easier fight than against one of the Klit sisters, its a no brainer.
He said in Boxing News he knows it does nothing for his career. Haye knows this fight is a joke, all his frustrations will be taken out on Audley in a few months, won't go past two rounds :deal
+1 Spot on mate. Booth and Haye have always been about doing it their way outside the usual promotional routes. They have had to sell their souls unfortunately to Sky to get what they want. I really don't like Hayes demeanor though. He's going to turn more people against him like this.
