Where was it? We were led to believe if this fight were ever made it would be like the forth installment of the Matrix series. However, during the fight, Wlad was constantly beating David to the punch. David should have been hitting Wlad three punches to one with blinding speed like Pac. The only demonstration of speed he gave was with his head.
Haye was too busy flopping and spending time on the canvas to show his speed. What a piece of **** that guy is.
Beating Haye to the punch had a lot to do with his arms being much longer and being able to effectively control the distance. Like when they both threw jabs and his would reach sooner, or more powerfully.
What Wlad will never get credit for is his athleticism. The main reason all of his opponents freeze is because Wlad is constantly beating them to the punch. As I said before the fight, people were going to be shocked that there would not be a speed difference between Haye and Wlad.
Speed doesn't mean **** if you aren't accurate. Here's looking at you, David Haye. ...and you, Shawn Porter. ...and you, Andre Berto. I can't stand those styles. "Ooh, handspeed!!!" - yeah, so ****ing what? If there isn't accuracy to go with it, you can shove your handspeed up your ass.
Ditto. I said it all along after recently rewatching lots of wlad's fights. The guy is robotic in his style but he is still an athlete. What surprised me more is Haye's durability as a heavyweight. I though he might fold under some stiff jabs but he took a few right hands well in the fight.
Haye's punches looked looping, wild and not lightning fast. Wlad didn't look slow next to Haye at all.
Haye has some speed, but he's so predictable and throws so wide that even Valuev saw most of them coming in time.
Fighters train to be accurate. You can't really train speed. Either you have it or you don't, for the most part...hand speed plays a much more important role than you're giving it credit for. Would you consider Corrie Sanders more accurate than he was fast, or vice versa? David Haye could have done something with his speed, but was just too scared to get hit.
