That's what I was thinking. And Haye can throw straight punches. Vs. Ruiz he did (round 1) and vs. Enzo.. fast, straight 1-2's. Vs. Wlad he looked helpless with those sloppy haymakers that just looked quite amateurish.
He has the speed to catch Wlad when he saw openings and unloaded at the correct time, but he compeltely lacked variation and was only throwing single or double shots which Wlad figured out well. He also was looping them pretty gideously at times.
When David was throwing jabs speed advantage was visible. But he telegraphed his punches much more. Wlad has better timing and was able to catch Haye coming in with haymaker. One episode with hard left stopping in the late rounds was very impressive. David's reflexes are exceptional he was able to withstand punches I never imagined he could.
Nah he's actually pretty spot on, speed is pretty much what you were born with, there's not alot you can do to change it. In boxing you can improve your technique and timing which will effectively reduce the time to get from point A to B so in that sense you can improve 'speed'. But to increase the velocity of your movement/contraction of the muscles and tendons is something that is largely genetic. Things like excess weight and lack of the appropriate stimulus can slow you down. If you do manage to increase your speed it will only be by a very little amount and any improvement will realistically only come at the start of a training program.
no you mean you fell for the hype u tit...haye was givin a lesson even tho he ran after the 3rd round..he was still givin a lesson
You could see his speed was good, Vitali and Wlad both said so after the fight, his headspeed was also verry good, and he managed to make Wlad miss with most of his rights, and a lot of jabs, problem was because of his poor balance and telegraphed haymakers he was never really able to counter effectively. Plus I'm not sure Wlad would have went down from his punches.
That's speed, the thing in bold. You say "wow he punches fast" not "wow look at how fast his muscles contract". Most of the speed in boxing comes from proper biomechanics, I estimate 99% of boxers don't reach the speed they could have. Of course there's a genetic limit, that's true for all aspects of fitness. But saying speed can't be improved is utter nonsense.
As I have said many times before, Hayes spped is very over rated and he is not faster than some of the guys Wlad has fought. Wlads speed is on par with Hayes if not a bit faster, mostly due to the fact Wlad throws straight punches and Haye throws wide and wild.
Vlad throws straight punches, had the height and reach advantage, was quicker, better balance, while Haye was off balance, threw looping wide punches, Vlad should have countered Haye while Haye was off balance. Rematch being talked about, also Vitali/Haye in future, hope it happens.
This Imo wlad s reach nullified part of hayes speed advantage. I thought Haye was pretty quick and seldomly posed a stationary target, if not for that he d have been knocked out, imo. He made Wlad miss a lot with his lead lefts which you rarely see in a wlad fight.
haye just couldnt get in range to hit wlad so therefore got outboxed with the klitschko formula of jabs, however if haye was less cautious and scared of getting k.o'd i think he would of had a better chance.
