Who said individualism means isolation? You're stuck in a different era and that attitude will hold you back. I grew up in a very mixed area and my generation where I grew up -I'm in my mid twenties- never bought into this whole different community nonsense.

Why would I identify myself by the colour of my skin? It makes about as much sense as me identifying myself by my height. As I said my culture is human culture and I enjoy different aspects of it that originate from across the world, from food to music.

It's made your socio-economic background clear for all to see, which I'll admit made things a lot harder. Changed? Not entirely but everyone has to want it to and part of the way to do that is to tear down barriers. 'Black' entertainment should just be 'entertainment'. Black history IS history. Wouldn't you agree?

Now, let's start compartmentalising ourselves and live our lives.

you sound so clueless....dude, it's about acknowledging and respecting differences....not pretrending those differences aren' t there. you're taking a cowards, lazy way out. see that there is diversity....appreciate it, but don't try and diminish differences between people. my racial identity is important to me. i'm from a people who did great things and accomplished great things because of the circumstances they faced. it's crazy to tell people to forget their origins and accept some nebuloys self-concept rooted in denial of their very roots.

you keep acting as we're all the same...we have a history. you're trying to deny it existed. there were people who enslaved us...beat us and oppressed us. that's a reality. we overcame and we created our music as a response to our struggles....and you're gonna tell me that i should not even recognize that music as a byprodut of our cultural experiences? you just want to kill and cheapen and deaden everythying. you have no respect for value.

It's not lazy at all. I admire people from all different ethnicities. I appreciate and take pride in the achievements if humanity. To single out achievements made by people who happen to share my ethnicity seems, well petty.

It's a different time now and we should embrace that. We're all on this big blue ball together.
