Your own people enslaved you, beat you, oppressed you. Slavery to this day is legal in Africa. When whites ran Africa the first thing they did was abolish slavery, but now you drove them out and it's legal again. 1000's of black slaves built the city of Dubai.

Only good thing on BET is Rocsi Diaz until she starts speaking, Ward v Smith isn't going to change that.

I don't want to forget anything. It's important for humanity to remember the wrongs of the past to ensure we have a better future. The people who suffered the cruelty of slavery did some remarkable things. They did that because that's what people do in times of adversity. Not because of the pigment within their skin.

There have been slaves of all races across the world and are people who are still in bondage now. It's important that we remember that too.

I guessed that. You ashamed to identify your country of origin? After talking all that smack, it shouldn't be a problem to identify where you are from. No one is coming there to look for you. lol

i think it's important people respect each other....for example, i hate country music, so i don't watch that channel....but if someone i know wants to listen to it, i don't object. we have to learn to share the planet, but we're not going to see eye to eye, because we are all products of our own unique experiences.

you have no fkin idea what you're talking about when it comes to slavery.

For sure. I'm all for choice and all for respecting culture. I'm just saying that even though I'm not Egyptian, I still think it's amazing that people of flesh and blood, just like me built those structures. Much in the same way that I'm equally aghast about what people went through in the holocaust as much as I am about what happened to people during slavery in the US.

i enjoy learning about different cultures....because i think you can learn a lot from the experiences of others. but if a chinese person wants to watch chinese tv and a latino wants to watch univision and a black person wants to watch BET and a white person wants to watch WET i see nothing wrong with that. we all need images we can relate to our own life experiences.

ok..but at the same time, you're against BET? I mean, how do people preserve and promote their own cultural products if they don't have things like BET? is it just BETyou're against? how about univision? how about tv shows like the gilmore girls or friends? how about korean dramas on america tv? should we ban all that?

I'm not against BET, I just find the name unhelpful. It suggests certain shows are for 'certain' people based upon their ethnicity. If there was a 'white entertainment' you can bet your bottom dollar that I'd think that was stupid too.
