Well if he makes duff fights here then at least they'll be free. Let's face it they won't be any worse than Duva's cards.

I had noted that Haymon's prior business model was unsustainable. This proves it, and the fighters that got inflated paydays for easy opponents were essentially like the first investors in a Ponzi scheme that actually get paid back.

That said, this is good for fans and good for the sport. Follow the money and notice the change in business model.

Instead of making his money up front and strong-arming networks into high purse bids and mismatches, Haymon now has to generate enough interest in the fights themselves to recoup his investment to NBC and pay his fighters.

All the sudden, the fighters in his stable will have to square off in fan-friendly matchups or else he's taking a bath on every show.

This is a good change for boxing. A bonus is that now Showtime will have its budget freed up for more competitive, entertaining matchups.

kathy duva recycled the **** out of adamek on nbc. what a waste of air time. how many gifts can u give the guy and keep bringing him back? he lost to chambers. he lost to cunningham. then they bring in the other eastern euro and give him some gift decisions too.

al haymon puts on great fights. this is good for boxing. the haters will **** on whatever he does because they have no clue. the fighters and ppl in the business know he's good for boxing.

why does he have to pay to get on tv? can you answer that? isn't it supposed to be the other way round

and were talking about him putting on 'Haymon Shows'. Isn't it promoters that put on shows? and isn't he supposed to be a manager.

Another example of how he could be breaking the ali act

im sure him advising Quillen to turn down a career high payday was excellent business too

In all honesty, as much as I love Duva's work with NBCSports, NBC usually doesn't put on competitive matches featuring two top fighters either, if they were held to the standards of HBO/Showtime. So, we'll probably end up getting bigger names and more relevant fights on these cards, even if they are still going to be one sided.
