Kovalev and Stevenson were set to fight each other by HBO and it looked all but signed. This was back when the fight was at its peak in all around interest and before Stevenson would put on a couple of **** performances, back then he was still very much viewed as a beastly fighter (although the Bellew performance leaft a bit to be desired). But generally it was viewed as a 50-50 fight. Haymon had other "ideas" though and butted in signing Stevenson and taking him to his other networks, since then we only had obstacles and problems, delays and what not (to be fair from both sides but still) It almost happened until he stepped in with his ****ty timing, what a shame.
Stevenson has not been challenged since the Fonfara fight that he almost lost. Ever since he has just been a belt holder. Might as well cash out now before he gets stripped.
