Aside from Floyd, NO ONE in Haymon's stable has superstar potential. By superstar, I mean that there isn't a Pacquiao, Floyd, or Marquez type fighter that can be considered elite or on the verge. Not Thurman, Garcia, Khan, Santa Cruz, Mares or anyone else on the roster.

So in moving to NBC, let's say Broner beats up on Molina and Matthysse... on a subscriber network like HBO or Showtime, that kind of streak would VALIDATE a PPV show. But if they're fighting on NBC, how will they ever be a part of a PPV card where they can make back-end money?

EVERY SINGLE BOXER'S GOAL IS TO BECOME A PAY PER VIEW ATTRACTION.

All these misguided morons that think Haymon can do for them what he did for Floyd (a generational talent).

    :-(

Why do people get mad about free boxing on network TV? This is great news for the sport yet Haymon haters can't let their hate for the man go despite this being good for boxing fans.

No body does anything out of the goodness of their hearts when it comes to capitalism and capitalist scum

Haymon is throwing these jokers into the melting pot to get his ****py gig going

He will sell anyone out for a chance to get his own thing going

Don't expect week after week of good fights

After few matches it will be back to the salkas of the world

Adamek-Cunningham 2 did 3 million viewers on NBC on a Saturday afternoon.
I don't believe a fight broke 1.5 million viewers on HBO or Showtime this year.

Even just assuming that viewership stays flat at 3 million, we are talking about at least double the number of people watching these guys fight.
What makes you think that double the number of people watching would mean a decrease in the possibility of becoming a PPV star?

Wilder for sure has a chance to be a PPV star. If he wins on Saturday he will surely be on NBC next. An American heavyweight champion, with great power, and who is well spoken?
I think Thurman does as well. The Bundu fight aside, he is exciting to watch and well spoken also. Santa Cruz could fall into this category as well.
And some of the Olympians coming up, particularly Spence, will greatly benefit also.

In the sport of boxing, isn't the ultimate goal to be a PPV attraction where all of the money is? NO ONE can make Floyd/Pac money fighting on free TV!

In the NBC deal, how will a Haymon break out and become a PPV attraction when he's fighting on a free network?

I'm all for the free fights, but my thread is about how the fighters have been drilled in the butt by this deal.

Easy if the demand is there it will be on PPV. Right now IMO only a handful of fighters are really PPV fighters PBF, Pac, Cotto and Canelo. I would say even PBF has had some fight that weren't PPV worthy and should have been on NBC if this deal had been made earlier and so has Pac. The Guerrero fight is example and Pac's fights with Rios and Algeri are another.

I don't see why it would be more difficult to become a star on NBC than on Showtime or HBO. Doesn't NBC have more viewer?

And how EXACTLY will these fighters fight on PPV? NBC's not going to do a PPV. Going from FREE to CHARGING will anger a lot of people...

And since Haymon's departure to NBC was basically an FU to Showtime and HBO, I don't see them welcoming them w/ open arms.

And NBC isn't going to be thrilled that Haymon would want to bring the PPV fights to HBO/Showtime after the fighters were "developed" into stars at NBC.

The NBC deal benefits Haymon, not the fighters. Why defend Haymon?

The fighters you mentioned are young. Was Pacquiao, Marquez, and Mayweather considered huge PPV attractions/stars at the age of 25?
