Well they shouldn't have signed with him then. Besides, if Haymon screws his fighters over then other fighters will realise and not want to sign for him. Therefore wouldn't Haymon have screwed himself in the longer term.

This thread was purely created to take a shot at Haymon. No fighter besides Floyd and Pacquiao have been PPV stars. Guys like Canelo, Marquez, Bradley, and JCCJR haven't been any where near successful on PPV. Most fighters are lucky to be on one PPV, let alone get multiple fights on PPV. This is a great move for boxing. PPV is over used anyway. If Floyd and Pac are having trouble, how do you expect these guys to do better when they do much worse.

The problem is that you think they are fighting for free. TV networks make a lot of money off of advertisements. Companies pay the networks a lot of money for the most prized commercial slots.

IN 2013 NBCUniversal gained $23.7 billion - $4.7 billion in operation and production cost, netted about $19 billion.

In 2013 HBO gained $4.9 billion - $1.68 billion in operating and production cost, netted about $3.2 billion. They have about 114 million total members.

This also gives the boxers a lot more chances for endorsements. It's not a surprise to me that the average football, basketball, or baseball player make more than the average boxer.

If a boxer becomes a star they can still do ppv for select fights. Fighting on NBC will give them a exposure they need.

Not every fighter that fights on PPV gets PPV upside. Very few people do. You are talking about less than 1% of fighters in history that have received PPV upside. Simply "being on PPV" is meaningless. If you aren't getting an upside there is no advantage to being on PPV. The Networks and cable operators get all the money.

This thread is dumb. There has basically been 4 PPV stars in modern boxing:
    Floyd, Tyson, Manny, and Oscar
    That's it.
All those other guys either only did a few or made less than $5 million per PPV (canelo, cotto, lewis, hopkins, etc).
We're talking about danny garcia and keith thurman here folks. The fact that Al Haymon has them making $1mil+ per fight on this NBC deal is a HUGE come up for them. Stevenson made a million fighting a nobody on showtime and most ppl can't even pick him out of a lineup. Historically these guys are being paid VERY well especially considering the level of competition they are facing.

Main Events started the "NBC Boxing Series" in May 2003. In 2005 Main Events partnered with ESPN & NBC to show low pay PPV cards.

The NBC Boxing Series showcased many top tier boxers; including Calvin Brock, Terry Smith, David Tua, John Ruiz, etc.

In fact Brock fought on an NBC show, then 2 monthes later fought on HBO before fighting Wladimir Klitschko.

Al Haymon is structuring his NBC shows in the same manner that Main Events has. Showcase up-and-coming named boxers, then let the boxers move into premium channels then to PPV.

As Kathy Duva stated perfectly "The NBC series will be a steppingstone series for fighters, and a perfect example for fans to see boxers before they become stars". Duva added "We are structuring our show in the same infrastructure as Major League Baseball does, right now these are Triple A games, with the possibility for Major League exposure forthcoming to the boxers scheduled".

This thread can be proven incorrect by bumping any number of the "who is the next boxing superstar in X amount of years?!?!?!" threads.
