    One simple question:

Which is easier, having fighters signed to promotional contracts and having the tough task of fitting them all into a limited number of Showtime dates, or having no signed fighters at all and being at the mercy of Al Haymon?

You sure are going to a lot of trouble just to make allowances for Schaefer's lapses, aren't you?:rofl

in my honest opinion....i think its tougher and more of a burden to them to have to fit a bunch of commitments into dates/shows.....

as SJ mentioned and i did before....they did ink the one guy who has superstar/crossover appeal...the one guy, they have, that can sell a ppv other than floyd...in canelo.....schaefer locked that up.....so i think he had the best interest in the company in mind there......most of the rest of the guys are fringe stars that can be replaced or interchangable.....

no signed fighters and being at haymons mercy? well since haymon aint goin anywhere ...how would schaefer be at his mercy??? especially if golden boy doesnt have contracts with all of his fighters? if they arent contractually obligated to use/promote said fighter....then how can haymon hold them hostage?

im not going to great lengths to defend schaefer...i just dont think the contractual thing should be a huge issue....its only an issue because hes no longer wanted to do the job he was hired to do...as he saw fit....if oscar let him continue to run the company hed be doing that today...i think there are some benefits of the company not to have every fighter under contract.....i think it looks bad now because he was removed....if he was trying to backdoor oscar then he prob wouldnt have signed canelo either......its almost as if you think he knew a year or two ago that oscar was gonna wanna remove him......he had a contract thru 2018...most fighters under contract with GB would have been free or trying to reup by then anyway.......he stepped down not because of some sinister plan years in the making with haymon....he stepped down because oscar wants him to consider working with arum.....and on principle he doesnt want to...and has shown he can be successful without doing so......had oscar had no beef with the way schaefer was operating....schaefer would still be there right now

If you can't see the problem in what you just posted, it appears you have more to worry about than what we are talking about.

I appreciate you quoting Arum's words from way back, but what exactly is your point here? Arum has stated they can work with GBP when Oscar extended an olive branch--what is there to argue about? If one of them runs out of possible opponents and there is a more lucrative option on the other side of the fence, isn't that increasing their business more than they can with solely their own stable?

If we go by your reasoning then GBP has been deluding itself everytime they promote Floyd's fights! Floyd has his own promotion company, so GBP always does a co-promotion with Floyd's company for only a "small percentage"? Well, that may even be so considering how Schaefer's been fu*king GBP as its CEO, hah! :rofl

Surely you're not trying to diminish in people's minds the path GBP wants to take post-Schaefer?

richard schaefer....record year last year for golden boy with a record/revenue breaking ppv....same numbers as hbo with 30 percent less subscribers.....burying competition(isnt that what CEOs supposed to do)?....yet somehow he didnt have golden boys best interests at heart....lol

Again, you are simply assuming that Al Haymon is allowing ANY of his fighters to sign promotional contracts. Apparently, he's not.

At that point, Schaefer can either decide he won't participate in the promotion of any fighters he doesn't have options on, or he take thsoe ready made Haymon cards, enjoy the benefits of having that GBP banner draped all over the broadcast, and get paid for a night of promotions. he chose the latter. Can't say I blame him, either.

A window for what? Al Haymon aint signing promotional contracts for his clients.

I'm sayng that if SHO and GBP colluding in that matter, a lawsuit with all the injunctions and depositions involved, would have slowed that up real quick. Haymon knows where the bodies are buried. GBP and SHO don't want to go there.

why does bob arum demand fighters sign with him to get pac fights? because......as SJ pointed to the arum quote.....keeping that money in house makes it sweeter for him

does schaefer opening up the possibility of working with arum open himself up to other opportunities should those within his walls dry up? sure....thats true in theory.....the thing is....the stable of guys schaefer had access to makes it highly unlikely he ever runs into that problem...

That's exactly what the job of a promoter is! You know, get their fighters TV slots! And if they have so much fighters that the limited network slots cannot possibly accommodate all of them, they can bankroll shows on their own. I'm surprised the concept seems foreign to you,
Let me get this, so if Schaefer did sign up one guy, he already did his mandate as CEO of GBP? What about all the rest of them he let appear on GBP cards, what, did he just let Haymon walk all over him without even a thank-you?

Schaefer signing these fighters to contracts would have been simply doing his job as CEO, it is prudent business, and we would not even have anything to discuss here.

I would go on a limb here and assume you were not born yesterday. Securing these fighters to contracts would be a safeguard for his company that in any eventuality, especially that you are now trying to focus your argument on Schaefer and Haymon's personal rapport as an ironclad relationship, Golden Boy will not be left holding an empty bag. Hey, this is the real world, and sometimes business partners don't always stay friends, as Oscar and Richard did, and who is to say Haymon and Schaefer will always stay best chums? And now Dick's lapses, by design or incompetence, is saddling his former company.

It is not a trifling matter at all so don't even try making it seem insignificant.

where the **** is the collusion there? as a promotional co., you want to expose fighters under youir own banner.

shittier was the one doing out of the norm which puts into question where his loyalty lies, or who is paying him more?

I think I already made it so obvious that a lawsuit on this matter would be the last thing Al Haymon wants, now and at any point in his self-aware life. :patsch

Haymon knows where the bodies are buried, because he put them there himself! :nono and in both graveyards to boot.

Was Golden Boy's income commensurate with those record-breaking revenues, or are you saying Floyd is a liar and they actually paid GBP with a percentage, and not just a "flat fee"? :rofl:lol::yep

So is it at all possible the record-breaking PPVs did not translate to Golden Boy's bottomline?

Somehow, that "flat fee" claim doesn't really go well with GBP's best interests in an argument does it? :nut

Record-breaking PPVs, burying the competition, ....slogans that all sound good until you take a good look at them. :patsch
