Haymon trying to trade fighters for Schaffer

I just have to comment on the part where Haymon supposedly can choose whether his fighters sign a long-term promotional contract with GBP or not. (Note I specified "promotional" contract, some dense nuthead a few pages back was trying to equate managerial contracts with promotional contracts atsch )

This part is not under question, in my opinion. GBP had as much leverage with Showtime as Haymon/Mayweather. In fact, GBP is the promoter of choice of Showtime. If Schaefer played hardball and demanded long-term promotional contracts from Haymon fighters or no Showtime dates, where do you think was Haymon going to go to? Top Rank and his best pal Bob Arum? No way! It was GBP, which had all of Showtime's dates, or bust for Haymon fighters.

This is why it is so hard to even try to rationalize why Dick Schaefer even allowed this to happen in the first place. He had the leverage, and the responsibility, to sign them up, but chose not to.

 

i dont even bother with this bunch. its the same crowd who loves to throw out how oscar offered manny a briefcase full of money to sign with gbp but now cant seem to grasp why oscar would do that in the first place. i guess they figure oscar likes to give away money.

 

Sad that you can't even talk about this becuz these string pulling promoters and managers have... fans? Floyd and Dick and Al on one side. Pac and bob and maybe Oscar now on the other? What is this the wwf? Can't even talk logically without these clowns getting emotional over their favorite fukkin promotional company? The issue is not Dick Schaefer resigning from GBP. In fact he should have just resigned long ago before he *******ized GBP's assets in order to accommodate Al Haymon and Floyd Mayweather Jr! Which is the real issue here. atsch

so whats a piece of paper gonna do to change things?....why bother forcing al to sign pieces of paper just because you can? ....you see schaefer and haymon actually like each other and enjoy doing business together....there is respect and honor there......why should one man go to the other and say "welllll ya know al...you cant really go anywhere else....ya know...i basically am your only avenue....sooo just cuz i can im gonna make you sign this"...it creates animosity....makes one guy seem more important than the other when they both have a great, mutually beneficial, deal/agreement in place

there was a handshake agreement in place.....some people are able to stand by those and honor them...i know its not usual in the boxing business though

why does schaefer wanna "play hardball" with a guy he knows hes doing business with and trusts....and that he knows isnt going anywhere else? why?

if golden boys "assets" are no in jeopardy of going anywhere like you say....then whats the worry over a contract?

 

tell this to shockmaster. He has a thought that on the matter that he repeats to anyone who will listen. Its about trust and good relationships amongst honest powerful millionaires. Even tho he's had contractual obligations and fiduciary duties explained to him a hundred times.

Why are you making excuses for Schaefer's omissions anyway? Do you want to encourage the thinking that everyone should basically kowtow to Haymon's whims because, er, that's how you like it? Are they paying you for being like this? Is it so hard to admit Schaefer f*cked around with Haymon using GBP's bedroom?
