Haymon v Hearn

Al Haymon by a long long way. The fighters he has under his control, he should be able to make 50/50 fights or close to all the time. Yes Hearn can improve but he doesn't have as many fighters and therefore it is more difficult for him to make the best fights. He always chases the best and biggest fights he can make and has had a whole lot of bad luck in recent times.

 

Agreed. I think Hearn at least attempts to make decent fights and goes to some length to explain himself via IFL etc. Some of his shows are pony, like the one is Hull, but on the whole he puts on decent shows.

Al Haymon on the other hand seems a shadowy figure. Fights like Salka v Garcia and Khan v Algieri make me think there is an agenda other than putting on good, competitive fights.

 

Khan vs Algieri is a lot better fight than Garcia vs Salka! Come on! Not a good fight by any stretch of the imagination but Salka was an average fighter who was nowhere near world level at a division below, Algieri is a world level operator at 140 and has fought Pacquiao. Agree on everything else though :good

Yeah ok, Khan v Algieri is not a mismatch in the same way Salka v Garcia was, but it's not competitive either.

There's loads of competition out there for Khan, but since the Garcia fight he seems to be matched against fringe contenders or limited opponents only. Perhaps he is being manouvered into a position for a super fight, but for the fight fan it's frustrating.

 

Well he has operated at world level twice and didn't do himself any harm did he. I'm not saying either guy is world class but both are fringe contenders so yes they both operate at world level in their divisions.

 

Totally agree, I wanted to see him fight Bradley or even someone like a Rios or Marquez. He is clearly being manoeuvred into that super fight which they believe they can get, but he has fought decent enough opposition though, Alexander is a very good fighter, and no one has done to him what Khan did.

 

Dragon Punch will be telling us soon that Bradley Skeete is world level and Buglioni will conquer the universe.

 

Prior to the fights no one would have said he was even close to world level but I think he did enough to say he was a fringe level fighter at world level, my opinion of course

 

Haymon. But Hearn isn't far off!

 

Hearn is a decent guy and a good promotor. However he is trying to force and cash in on a Brook-Khan fight too soon. Let it build, simmer and stew away for 1 year or so.

Mayweather-Pac will probably fight twice. By then Khan will get the message that those fights are not happening and he can then focus on a mega all Brit showdown with Broom where there is even more money in the pot.

 

Haymon in contrast in like a corporate shark. You dont go toe to toe with this guy and win.
