... and nobody claimed it was, not even me, who does, btw, think GGG beat Canelo twice. It is however, a successful defence. And 22JM said that Golovkin's title defences were against bums and no-hopers so ...
Nonsense. A past prime GGG is, at the very worst, 1-1 against the supposed greatest fighter of our generation and the loss is also highly controversial. And Canelo's transformation to Hulknelo ever so conveniently coincided with him getting popped for PEDs prior to the fight. Prime GGG was ducked and avoided by virtually all the top dogs at 160 like he had the bubonic plague and ebola. Hell, Clenelo even created his own weight division and state of the art Kazakhstani proof chicken coop to avoid a prime G. Loma's the best followed by Usyk. I'm one of the biggest Beterbiev fans on here and I've probably been a fan of his longer than everyone else on here too. Yes he's a force of nature and a wrecking ball of a man with thunder in his fists but his resume isn't even remotely close to Loma's and the same applies to all the current crop of US fighters in the top 10 or 15 P4P. Prime Kov was hell on wheels too, but like GGG and Loma a huge part of his legacy and place in history was stolen from him by the corrupt officials across the pond and that's the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
They were only special when Sergio Martinez struggled with them. When Golovkin made them look like children they conveniently became bums. They weren't all the best opposition but it was the way he dispatched all of them that was special. If there was other fighters that defeated all the same fighters that GGG did in title defenses, they would be doing well just to get the win by decision over these guys, but to KO 18 out of 20 in impressive fashion is pretty impressive. Its the way he beats them.
Macklin was only impressive when Marinez and Sturm struggled with him. It doesnt count when Golovkin destroyes him in a way they could only dream of.
A lot of the forum idiots don't understand that aspect. If 3g was so mediocre, he'd have struggled with mere journeymen, or just barely beat top 10 contenders. But he did to them what one would expect an elite fighter to do, and that's blast them out. These detractors clearly lack critical thinking. That's the Achilles heal of the simple minds. So they simplify, or dumb down, things to their level of understanding. Sad thing is you cannot tell them this, or even explain that to them. Dumb people don't believe they are dumb. This board has a whole bunch of 'proud to be stupid' posters. @chacal , @dinovelvet , @Dance84 , @drenlou , @Scar , @IsaL , @BigBone .. these guys aren't very bright or close to educated. "Rube" is the word that comes to mind with them.
I would argue that you can compare Canelo to Andre Ward. Ward was always too big for GGG, but i have no doubts GGG could hold his own with Ward. Ward may spoil his way to victory with his Size advantage and holding and wrestling tactics.
As a supposed 3G fanboy, I always thought Ward would beat him at 168. Not many posters realize the shift in size from 160 to 168. It might seem like just 8 pounds, but that's been one of the most difficult jumps on boxing since the introduction of SprMW. And of course, those who think it's easy will point out certain HOFers doing it, unknowlying backing my assertion, as if anyone can do it. But if they took even a minute to do some research historically, they'd understand the challenges in that move. But we all know (from articles on it), when it came to it, Ward said no. Had a shoulder injury (Ironic for current events) and that when he finally came back, it was at 175. He even said then 168 was a struggle to even make then. But these idiots STILL insisted 3g v Ward at 168 was doable. Slow minded posters are simply the worst here.
