Benavidez vs. Del Cid

Round 1

Benavidez threatens with his jab and keeps Del Cid skidding away throwing defensive uppercuts and looking to hold when Benavidez tries to trap him in the corner. Benavidez lands a couple of brutal body hooks that have Del Cid nearly ready to tumble after Del Cid had ducked a 1-2 while Benavidez was headhunting.

Round 2

Del Cid throws a hook to the body and clinches, trying to keep Benavidez from getting anything off by simply pinning his arms down. Benavidez starts to really lay in to the body himself, and lands one especially hard reaching hook that sends Del Cid wincing as he motors in reverse into the corner, bounces off the turnbuckle and goes to a knee, where Kenny Bayless lets him off the hook.

 

The HBO broadcast is in one hour and will feature both Peterson-Rios and then Gamboa-Salido.

 

Mike Lee vs. Alex Rivera, 4 rounds at light heavyweight.

Round 1

Rivera has crazy tattoos all over his face and arms, and true to form throws crazy flapping combos at Lee, who charges forward and plants a solid jab on the crazy face of Rivera. WOAH! Lee takes a spill as Rivera thrusts his forearm in his face and it's ruled a slip. This is a very rough battle already. Lee hits Rivera with jabs in the face and hard body shots while Rivera flails at him with hard clubbing rights. The Lee jab is really searing the ink off Rivera's face. Looping shots from Rivera until he gets close enough to clinch. Lee pumps his jab and throws a right hand that Rivera dives underneath.

Round 2

Rivera has settled down a bit and is chopping with his jab. Lee pounds him with straight punches while Rivera continues to loop shots at him. Lee begins working the body and Rivera turns his back on him. Rivera goes down after a punishing combo down low by Lee. He stays on his knee gasping.

 

Diego Magdaleno vs. Carlos Oliveira, 8 rounds @ light heavyweight.

This is the last undercard bout.

 

Round 1

Magdaleno throws jabs and left crosses, not with perfect technique by any means but shorter and straighter than Oliveira, who flings his gloves from each hip in badly telegraphed motions. Oliveira has a lot of flab and looks more like a welterweight in the ring than a SFW. Magdaleno gets tagged with a couple of right hands but largely controls the round with his movement and better punching.
