Gamboa gets his revenge with a technical knockdown of Salido, causing him to dip low and brush a glove on the canvas after Gamboa hooks him on the turn. He beats the count clear-eyed but is quickly swarmed and overwhelmed by Gamboa. Salido again goes down off an accumulation but Cortez says that Gamboa hit him while he was clearly down (it was a tomahawk chop to the top of the head while Salido's butt was firmly planted on the mat). Two points are taken away as Cortez rules it a flagrant foul, and Salido had about thirty seconds to get up and recover. They slug away, with Salido going to the body and Gamboa headhunting. Salido throws a lazy jab and then thrusts his shoulder into Gamboa's chest, setting up shop and going to work on the body. They fight to the bell.

8-7 Gamboa (he would have won the round 10-7 with the two knockdowns, but loses two points for the foul as mandated by the referee).
