"The fight will get made because Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao want the fight to get done," he said. "Two fighters look in the mirror and try to establish themselves as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world."

"It's rare when you have the two best pound-for-pound fighters in the world both in their prime in the same weight class,..And when that happens you seize the opportunity. I've lived through [Sugar Ray] Leonard-[Marvelous Marvin] Hagler, Leonard-[Thomas] Hearns. That's exactly where we were in 1981 [with Leonard-Hearns I], and the fight had to get made. The public demanded it and the fighters demanded it. And so there's no gray area. As far as the split, why hassle? Just do what [Muhammad] Ali and [Joe] Frazier did in 1971 -- split it in half. I'll go on record. What's a percentage point here or there to satisfy somebody's ego?"

"I don't know what the final number will be but I know if we're going to do this fight, we have to do it out of the box and we have to treat it as a Super Bowl. We have to put all of our energy into every angle of the promotion and the production and the site and treat it as a true Super Bowl, and that means generating a lot more money than we ever have generated...Everything about this fight is bigger than other fights"

"I think it's a fairly easy fight to make. The money is too great, the importance is too high and the fighters themselves are fierce competitors and this will define them. This will define them as fighters. This will define them."

the fight is there to be made, but the terms of the agreement is what the fighters will get caught up on.

In the end it'll happen but it won't be easy.

But what from I'm hearing Roach wants the fight against Mayweather at 145. no way Floyd would go for that. Usually I disagree with floyd but not this time. Pac has proved he can handle a solid WW. So no excuses the fight needs to be made 50/50 split at 147.

Wanting the fight at 145 and actually forcing Floyd to make the weight are two different issues completely. It's just an extra windfall for Manny if they do a 50/ 50 split and he makes an extra mil or two because Floyd comes in at 147.

I wish I were more optimistic about this fight actually coming off. Unfortunately, I believe PBF wants no part of this fight. The writing is on the wall: Floyd will price himself out, and the fight will never get made. I just hope the public isn't going to believe his BS anymore.

Why? Whats wrong with Pac at 144? That is within the welterwight limit.

Why not? He will weigh in at 147 anyway he doesn't care.

That's right, and he can come in at that weight if that's where he is most comfortable.

All welterweight fights will now happen at 141 pounds because it is "within the limit". Someone tell Clottey he'd better start cutting NOW.

I think we need to get over the small details and get real on here. These are both great fighters and the money for this fight will be the largest since....

Make the fight at 147, split the money down the pipe 50/50 and let both guys make 30 million. Pac has had time now to get into this division and its ****ing ridiculous to even postpone or worry about 2 lbs.

Make the fight, promote the hell out of it and everyone gets (more) rich. The fans demand it.
