Salido is ranked by The Ring as the best featherweight in the world only behind Chris John and JuanMa. Gamboa is UNIFYING instead of fighting some bum/shot fighter. I gotta say though, I still would've preferred Gamboa-Rojas, but if it'll be JuanMa to face Elio, I can wait one more year for a Gamboa-Rojas unification. :deal

Salido is a solid fighter with some nice wins on his record. He has ten losses on his record but a lot of those came early in his career while he was still a teenager. Salido is the best guy Gamboa's faced so far and its a unification bout so I'd say this is a solid fight and Gamboa should win.

Peterson-Rios is a nice match up between the one thing we always say we want to see-two young undefeated fighters facing off. I think Peterson wins but their styles are a good fit so it should be a good competitive fight.

Overall, this is a nice card but not a great one. None of the fighters are stars so the card will be a bit under the radar. The main problem with this card is its not what Top Rank had talked about delivering. They said it was going to be Gamboa-Callabero and Peterson-Soto which would have been a fantastic card. So instead of getting one of the best doubleheaders of the year we'll get one thats good but nothing like the original one.

I'm glad we're on the same page man. I said almost the same exact thing on page one. Both fights will be really good, the people who are complaining have no idea who Salido is and will be shocked to find out he's a damn good opponent.

Should be another fairly easy outing for Gamboa. The fight of the night will be Peterson vs Rios and it should be no surprise who I am going for. I think this is a step up for Peterson. Rios is a very tough contender.

  10. Good post. You have to take most of the comments on this board with a grain of salt as most of the people on here don't know much about boxing as a whole. They only follow the 'popular' fighters.

my buddy in the NSAC texted me this.

Gamboa is going to be fighting at the Pearl in the palms. Awesome Venue. Looks like Gamboa fighting in Primm has all but come to an end. Sucks, since the primm seats were usually free to locals.

Over at the scene of boxing, there is an article by lem satterfield mostly with quotes from tony gonzalez (gamboa's manager) saying that he will be facing Salido on the 24th at the Palms! It was funny how Gonzalez said that Gamboa determined he would like to face Salido after watching the JMM vs Salido fight from 4 years ago. That is the only fight of Salido on youtube and it is the one I have watched maybe 5 times since Salido was mentioned as a potential opponent.

Rios is a good young fighter. He took Terron out he was looking like a solid prospect. Dude can test Anthony's chin. That's gonna be a big time action fight.
