Ken Hershman can't get to HBO soon enough. For a network with the largest budget in boxing, they have made some horrible fights this year. In fact, I dont know that I can remember a worse year. From robberies (Lara-Williams) to one sided blowouts (Insert multiple Alvarez fights here) to quick endings (Mayweather-Ortiz, Berto-Zaveck, Hopkins-Dawson) to guys who just don't want to fight (Haye, Narvaez), the matchmaking needs a complete overhaul. Here's hoping Hershman can turn this thing around. Fast.

It's fine to hate on Greenburg for lots of things, but some of the incidents you mention in this post are things that absolutely no one could have seen coming. You would have been angry if they hadn't aired Klitschko-Haye; it's not HBO's fault that that it turned into a snoozer (although Merchant's whining made it worse than it had to be). Berto-Zaveck was a legitimately intriguing match-up; no one knew it would end on cuts. Same goes for Mayweather-Ortiz; no one knew that Ortiz would become an even bigger idiot headcase. The only things you can really blame HBO for from your post are Hopkins-Dawson and the Alvarez fights (and given the fact that Alvarez is really damn popular, it's hard to criticize them for showing his fights).

This year has been a huge let-down. I've tried to get so many friends into boxing but these shitty fights/outcomes make it so difficult.

There's been many let downs and some shitty fights. But find me more than 2 or 3 weekends where there hasn't been a somewhat meaningful fight to look forward to.

2011 has been great. GREAT GREAT GREAT compared to 2010

Not hating on Greenberg at all. It's just been a bad year. Some of it was completely out of his control. Some wasn't. When ESPN Friday Night Fights has a more memorable year than HBO though, that's saying something.

I actually think 2011 has been awful. Yes, there have been a lot of fights to look forward to, but few have delivered.

I agree, 2010 ended on a high note but was absolutely dreadful between May and November.

For the record, I wasn't a big fan of 2010 either. Im a diehard boxing fan and will always watch no matter what, but I find myself disappointed more and more lately.

they are dumb as **** why wouldn't they televise the Mikey Garcia fight? the whole production team is right there. He's the brother of Donaire's trainer, he's an up and coming prospect. A Mexican-American. A big puncher.

    :patsch

Berto-Ortiz was a really good fight. I guess one out of twenty isn't bad.

the first half of the year was great for HBO

the problem is the last few events

and i kinda disagree with the Floyd Ortiz complaints i was in a packed bar and everybody loved it

shame though that many fights didnt fully materialize

Thank God for Hershman ..**** even 24/7 was actually pretty good ..Look a little like fight camp 360 with the Lenares footage ..I highly doubt Hershman would have allowed the Hopkins Dawson fight on PPV.
