It seems the effect of golden boy going to showtime is great exposure on hbo for international fights including us Brits Froch Kessler Golovkin macklin Cleverly kovalev Geale barker Burns beltran This is significant, big opportunity for all 4 of our remaining boys Hbo get decent figures even though they now seem no2 in the US boxing market, good wins or even gallant defeats will open doors for all included.i would love to see them all have their next few bouts stateside,I think an aspiring world class boxer should travel and mix it in the US as that is the way to gain respect from the boxing world Thoughts on the 4 bouts and the possibilities of an American invasion from burns cleverly and barker.would they cut the mustard out there where the expectation and level is far far higher
Burns-Beltran will be on HBO? Anywya now with HBO without stars anyone can get a shot on the channel,if they perform they are made int ostars. Terrence Crawford took a chance and one fight later he already was ''the best lightweight in the world''.
I read that burns Beltran was hbo but whether that was official I don't know I'm just pleased to see these boys get good exposure, but this is the sharp end and one stinker and your out if you are not a name To be fair they are all good competitive fights so should make good viewing, could be why ****** tried so hard for kovalev and Hearn avoided the predicted Rees route, because both kovalev and Beltran are known quantities overseas I would just like to see someone like barker or even someone like billy joe Saunders to go to America and campaign,it's a tougher market but you will meet so many different nationalities and styles and get great sparring For Saunders that beats the kind of Bradley pryce,Matthew hall kind of fight where he is comfortable in his own environment not stretching himself I think Saunders could be world class if matched accordingly. After Sullivan and Ryder, win or lose he needs to move on to European level
And I think for all 4 it's their biggest fight to date but for barker it really is make or break.i think a wide loss he might retire after all his problems, cleverlys young he can come again no matter what.macklin will get something again even as a high class gatekeeper. Burns is fighting for his 'world champion' future as we hear of potential big things next year
I wouldn't say Kovalev is a known quantity anywhere yet. Just not sold on him yet but do enjoy him a lot.
I'm the same but he is getting hardcore fans interest After matthysse golovkin Stevenson and the like he is being pushed hard to be the fearsome Russian puncher ala Ivan drago
