I thought Estrada fought a good fight. Not sensational but solid. Same goes with Nietes. Guys are not going to be able to KO every opponent. I wish announcers would stop getting on the bandwagon of one fighter and then build their case for that fighter throughout the broadcast. They need to be neutral. If a guy looks sensational give him his due but to say wow only when your guy lands and nothing when the other guy lands is unprofessional.

that what HBO always does they always over promote a Star like their boxing lives depend on it. Kovalev, Cotto, Pac for example.

HBO is just fixed on knockouts nowadays. I guess it's their strategy boxing wise to appeal to casual fans watching.

    ESPN are just as bad
We need commentary that stops trying to write a narrative, and instead talks about the actual story in the ring!

I feel Harold has his score figured out before hand to "tell a story" and It's funny when posters here agree with his scores on extremely off nights. show they just agree with him and don't just score the fight for themselves

Strange how Max Kellerman praised Andre Ward for his boring decision over Alexander Brand, and and has nothing but good say about his other favourites when they win decisions, even if they make no effort to stop over-matched opponents.

Yet he is harshly negative toward foreign-born (Asian, East European and Hispanic boxers), always insisting they should win by impressive KOs.

Letterman is losing it. Notice how he couldn't even come close to saying some of the names of the fighters? I get it, foreign names can be tough to pronounce sometimes but you owe it to your audience and the fighter to at least give it an honest effort and do your homework before the fight. Also, notice how Lampley, Ward and Kellerman all said how Estrada had dominated Orucuta to the point that Ward, rightly, noted that Orucuta had slumped shoulders heading back to his corner after the first round, only to have Letterman show his card that Orucuta won the first round. He needs to be replaced.

One could argue Max has an inner city fetish. Look at all the guys he drools over. Sweet Pea, Floyd, the list is long. What was that Nike campaign slogan for Jordan? "I want to be like Mike." That's Kellerman.

Kellerman has an obvious agenda that will become more apparent as he ages and slowly descends in to madness.

Yeah they have gotten unbearable. I mean if you're a big enough boxing fan you don't need the commentary to know whats really going on, but casuals don't always know the difference. HBO boxing is on it's way out it seems

The HBO crew is pretty bad, but nothing beats ESPN. They are worse than Burt Lancaster was during Frazier-Ali I.

Well the HBO crew knows **** all about boxing.
"Why was he able to land first?"
"Because he was the meaner man..."

    Jesus ****.

And there is always little enthusiasm in their broadcasts. Mostly it's just bitterness and dull commentary.
"Arroya is clearly the taller man, for whatever thats worth"... A completely random sentence in the middle of the fight.

HBO sucks and i hope they even further decrease their budget.

HBO use to be the pinnacle for boxers who wanted to be stars and paid like stars, ESPN use to be the minor leagues, & Showtime use to be...well if HBO was the NFL Showtime would have been the CFL. Oh my how things have changed in about a decade, really ever since HBO's head of sports/boxing jumped ship to Showtime.

Sorry, but “And a left, and a right ... and a left, and a right” doesn’t get it.

People, I have found, pay WAY more attention (and allow themselves to be upset by) commentators than I do, anyway.

HBO guys realize their time is almost up, the network will drop the sport entirely once the last PPV draw they have (Canelo if he wins) is gone.
