Anyone else find Lampley and crew a tad biased against Sergio ?

Pavlik wasn't in the fight for the first four rounds, won two or thrree of the next four and was badly mauled for the last four.

A good case could have been made for a corner stoppage.

And yet, to listen to HBO, Kelly was being competitive and the fight was close enough for Pav to perhaps get the decision.

    Thoughts ?

Their commentary during Williams v. Cintron is going to be hilarious, for sure.

they're idiots. They were trying to promote a Pavlik / Bute showdown.

They're not even commentators anymore they're marketers.

It was incredibly biased. But thats just Steward and Merchant being Steward and Merchent. Lampley is largely unbiased though.

I gave Pavlik 4 rounds at the most. Even when he was coming on strong, Martinez was still far more active, and landing about the same amount of punches.

And if they had watched the Williams fight is that Martinez weirdly gasses in the mid rounds, and then comes on strong in the championship rounds.

Steward is always like that during commentating. "just how I thought it would go"

I think they made a really big deal about Pavlik coming on in the middle rounds, but those, aside from the knockdown, were pretty close. I don't think Pavlik dominated like they were saying at all. I would also say it had more to do with Martinez calming down a little bit, rather than any big change for Pavlik.

HBO is always a little biased for the fighter they have signed who has appeared before on HBO, but if you ask them who won, they will all say Martinez.

Pavlik is over rated. He can't deal with top level speed, counters or movement.
