More people have an HBO subscription but Stevie Wonder could see Showtime had a way better card. Eventually people will get Showtime due to boxing and great original programing.

HBO dose a better job in selling its product than Showtime dose, and not only in boxing.

hbo has 30 million suscribers whereas showtime has 22 mil.

A good part of hbo suscribers suscribe for the boxing.

when showtime was doing super six they were still getting 600 700k for their broadcasts.

This surely is a slight disapointment. Fedor and Canelo both did over 1 million for Sho.

But its about building brand. GBP's flight to showtime and hbo's subsequent boycott of GBP/Haymon has opened a huge vacuum for international promoters to go in.

HBO's objective should be to expand the sport whereas showtime should expand the legitmacy of their brand.

With all this said, SHO still doesn' thave the stable that HBO has due to HBO and their legion of promoters (think dibella k2...etc). HOwever, they do have the best fighters from 154 to 140...the hottest division.

Showtime still can put other fighters on, just not Top Rank fighters.
It's just that GBP's stable is so big, that they take up most of the dates Showtime has.

HBO has more subscribers, plus 77K more viewers is hardly a crushing.

    HBO's base towers over Showtimes.

This was always a dumb move by GBP, and I hope HBO and GBP get their act together soon.

they have little incentive to put others on. But you are more seeing the same strategy that Arum led destruction of Don King.

He pursued a latinization of boxing. now he's pursuing an asianification of it.

    He's led a promoter coop against Haymon/GBP.

Haymon is not the promoter but he was influential enough to have many fighters that he managed he formed a mini union. HBO is tired of that and boxing has grown internationally that they don't need to subject themselves to that.

You also have to understand, taking a fight to GBP could lead to black listing by HBO as well.

Even though HBO has 8 million more suscribers. You are correct. Their boxing base is bigger.

Haymon still does business with HBO. Arreola's last fight was with HBO
