And should that come as a big surprise? No one is saying Golovkin is a superstar, just that these numbers are pretty impressive for a dude from Kazakhstan not named Borat.

I don't remember little Max Kellerman saying that a large number of German fans showed up and cheered for Golovkin. Attracting a group of people from around the world is worthy of mention. Little Max said he didn't know if Golovkin had a fan base because not many fans come from Khzakistan

    :yikes

I don't understand people who prioritized Golovkin vs. Stevens last Saturday night. I mean, that was always going to be a mismatch. There was minimal intrigue in wondering as to how Golovkin might take a punch from a thickly built MW knockout artist (which, as it turns out, was fairly well), but everyone in the know pretty much agreed he was a class above. That was a waste of a title defense, honestly, a big step down from Macklin.

You didn't even have to be some hardcore boxing snob to be aware of Marquez vs. Segura on the horizon, either. ALL the hardcore boxing snobs had been proselytizing about it for weeks leading up.

If Stevens hadn't quit on his stool when he did, I literally would have stopped watching & commenting on the HBO card because that is around when Marquez vs. Segura began and to me it was the far more important event. I can't even wrap my head around people watching the HBO card and then calling it a night when Lampley & co. signed off.

IB, I think you should write a thread, every week, a short one, telling us what you think you should be could match ups in the upcoming week end. Everybody could take advantage of such thread. I for one would be reading it with interest. I am sure a lot of people would too here.

I've done a few in the past, but they are time consuming and generally seem to be ignored for the most part...

GGG is the new charismatic foreigner that most Americans seem to like, ala Manny, and Stevens had some hellacious 1st round kos that were well broadcasted as well.

It was the perfect timing for the fight, and it showed through the ratings

Unimas only shows boxing on tape delay on the west coast, at 11pm. So there's never overlap
