Now that would be an interesting fight.

    GGG would demolish Kirkland.

If Ishia knocked Kirkland the **** out, imagine what GGG would do to this guy ? It'll be head unscrewing at its best. I can understand Kirkland wanting to cash out before he's back in jail though.

I think GGG would get exposed like Broner. Like Broner, he's there to get hit and we can't judge his real chin by the tomato cans he's been fighting. This is especially if Ann Wolfe is training Kirkland. There will be allot of but hurt people the nite of the fight.

Curtis Stevens is supposedly a harder puncher than Kirkland. What good did it make against GGG ? Kirkland wouldn't land **** : he'll get wipe out quickly due to his lack of defence.

GGG would kill Kirkland, but I'd like to see it. Kirkland will at least go down swinging, but go down he will.

YDKSAB if you think Broner's footwork and balance are comparable to Golovkin's.

Would anyone not pick Kirkland to get stopped in round one? :think

As much as a brawler Kirkland is, he has a so-so chin. GGG would touch him a few times and that would be it.

But, yeah, bring on Rosado - Kirkland. I would definitely watch that one.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Kirkland beat Vera at 160 pounds? How you can say he is a 154 pound fighter? That is like saying Donaire is a 122 pound fighter even though he just fought at 126 pounds. I bet you he could still make 122 pounds.

As for the fight itself, Kirkland is chinny as phuck and is fighting one of the hardest punchers P4P in the sport, he would be lucky to make it past the 2nd round IMO.

I don't know if you're just saying that ... every recent fighter Golovkin has been in the ring with has made a point of saying just how hard it is to land properly on him...

Broner was never sold as an offensive pressure fighter - if he was to get 'exposed' (not that I think Broner was 'exposed' - except in the sense that he oversold himself) - it wouldn't be 'like Broner'.

His offensive style does put him in harms way, in a way we don't tend to associate with a skilled fighter, but he just never gets hit cleanly - all the while landing heavily enough to put any opponent off their game.

I'm interested tho, - would GGG simply neutralising Kirklands offense then systematically breaking him down prove anything new to you? I'd see Kirkland as offering a similar set of problems as Stevens.

What is wrong with Chavez Jr? That fight would be a war. We can see what that Chavez chin is really made of.

Oh yeah i completely understand it from a buisness standpoint but Golovkin and now K2 have been chasing credible oppostion for 3 or 4 years so from a career management standpoint why not Adama in Feb, Geale in April, Kirkland in July, then go for Martinez or Murray in Oct or something like that. Aside from Macklin Golovkin has fought lower tier "acceptable" opposition in Stevens and Rosado and stay busys like Adama and Ishida. He needs some top 5 wins for credibility, the attention is great but i don't want to see him go the Berto route you need to prove it too. Geale could bolster his resume while Kirkland in the summer could help build more hype going into a Murray or Martinez fight in the fall.

From a HBO standpoint i appreciate the Ken Hershman philosophy of best vs best regardless of country, promoter, whatever and its been successful model for him over that last year. It would be a shame to see them succumb to the corporate "maximize profit" model that destroyed the network under Greenberg by catering to casual fans and hype rather than quality. I know they have to profit but you can achieve both with some compromise like the Geale in April and Kirkland in July proposal i mentioned.

:good I hope they follow that model if they're sold on Kirkland-GGG. At least fighting Gaele first adds a legitimate ranked middleweight contender to the resume, and would buy a pass for making the fan-friendly Kirkland fight in the summer.

I think this is a good showcase fight. The bad part is that it maybe awhile til GGG gets another legit opponent. He's already fighting a can in feb. Kirkland should give him a run in a fan pleasing fight but lets put him in a real fight soon.
