Bull****, Chagaev vs Wlad would MEAN more to the divsion, champ vs champ. A unify title ever sense Lewis retire. Haye is just other Rahman type of fight.
Chagaev might very well be more awesome than Haye. But Chagaev vs Klitscho is not a better fight than Klitschko vs Haye. Chagaev can't win. Haye had a small chance of winning. A fight with Haye was more intriguing. More entertaining. But that's all irrelevant now. The fact is We have a Chagaev vs Klitschko fight. The discussion here is about HBO deciding not to show this fight. HBO is not some sort of charity for Klitshcko fans. HBO want to make money. HBO will make money by showing ENTERTAINING programming. The people at HBO feel this won't be worth the price. I say make this a PPV. If it gets millions of buys, I'm sure HBO will be willing to put on more fights just like this one. Or if another network picks it up and they get high ratings, then HBO will have a bunch of egg on their face. Something tells me that the HBO people will be fine with thier decision come the morning of June 21st.
It's about excitement. People know that e.g. Haye has generated excitement in the past and can generate excitement in the future (and so will have people paying). People also know that Chagaev has generated little to no excitement in the past and will likely not generate excitement in the future (especially when coupled with klitschko who has a bad rep himself). So you end up with a fight that the general mass don't want to pay for vice versa a fight that will bring in no cash for HBO or any other network.
Can you explain to me the difference in excitement between the Haye-Barrett fight and the Klitschko-Barrett fight? And you think no other network will show the Klitschko-Chagaev fight? :roflatsch
Instead of bitching about HBO (whose given us enough Wlad fights to shake a stick at), why not having a go at Showtime for not picking up this fight yet?
HBO wanted Wlad vs Haye bc it would be fireworks, now they don't want Wlad vs Chagaev bc it's gonna be a tatical fight, that's fine, let them run their company the way they want, it's really their call alone. It just shows that they have Wlad at the end of the line of the major boxers they support, as Wlad vs Chagaev is a big fight hands down. Just hope that the fans outside Europe do get the oportunity to watch the fight on TV.
Uhm, that not anti-klit or biased. That's actually a valid observation that makes sense. e.g. Wright, Taylor and Tarver already had events that were bigger and more successful than any W. Klitschko event. I think everybody on this board will give Williams and Dawson a better chance on high PPV numbers than W. Klitschko. But if you want to close your eyes, live in that Klit-dreamworld and call everything else anti-Klitschko...be my guest.
60.000 people at ringside and the fight took place in a football stadium. The No1 Heavyweight against No 3. And HBO not showing the fight? Poor America.
Did you watch Klitschko vs Ibriganov? It was one of the worst fights in the history of the sport. Can you imagine a grown man, 6'8'' 245 lbs of solid muscle fighting like he was a crippled old woman against a fat Barney Rubble lookin mother ****er that was almost as ascared as Klitschko. And you even got Manny Steward basically callin it like he sees it sayin that Klitschko is actin like a ***** and it's the worst thing he could be doin and terrible for the sport. And you got people watchin thinkin it's some kinda I don't even know, but it's gotta be gay. I mean ****... Why the **** would HBO wanna pay for that bull****? You think Klitschko grew balls when it's so plainly obvious he's duckin Haye to fight a guy that has no chance so he can play it safe and fight like a grandma? I mean, be real here. Klitschko needs to fight Haye.
this is going to be a shitty fight. and, both guys have the built in excuse of prepairing for a different guy. hbo shoud have taken this fight, and used it to build the next hvy fight. maybe they just market one fight at a time? who knows, but at least the picture at hvy gets a little clearer, and the wba can shove there pretend championship belt up valuevs ass and he can hug ruiz for another 36minutes, and hopefully we can all forget about all of them!!!
I dont think I have to explain to you the difference in excitement between Haye's and Chagaev's fighting and demeanor style (you must see the appeal difference in both fighters style because you sound like a logical guy). Not for the money that is HBO standard (like for the Haye fight):nono. They will find a network, but the bidding will be far lower. Finkel will have to bring his A-game (read: he will have to beg at the networks for it like never before to get that reasonble amount of money).
