Come now. Boring is in the eye of the beholder. I've always thought that golf was, is and always will be the most boring sport on the face of the earth. But some people love it. In fact, Americans are bigger fans of golf than they are of boxing.
One American network decides they aren't going to show meaningless heavyweight fights and the forum goes into a frenzy. If you ever wonder why Americans think they are the center of the boxing universe, this is part of the reason why. No American gives a **** what fights show in Germany, so why do so many Europeans seem to care what shows in America? Anyway, HBO makes stupid decisions about boxing all the time. The problem isn't that they aren't showing these meaningless heavyweight sparring matches, it's that they don't take the same axe to all of their boxing coverage and pare it down to only well-matched and interesting fights. I dropped HBO a while ago because all of their good cards are PPV. The best non-PPV boxing is on ESPN and Showtime. Also, a high KO percentage is not indicative of excitement. Watching Wlad jab a fat, useless heavyweight for 11 rounds before he finally decides to do what he could have done in the first, and knock him out, is a waste of my time. It's not exciting, unless you consider 40 minutes of boredom for 5 seconds of payoff to be exciting. To me that sounds like the worlds worst handjob. If the fights were more evenly matched it would be exciting. If either Klit had any killer instinct left it would be exciting. As is, though, it's about as exciting as watching someone watch paint dry. And for all of the whining about American nationalism, the fights HBO said they would be interested in the heavyweight division involve 2 ukrainians, a brit, and a pole. I'm sure they'd LOVE to have an American heavyweight in the mix, but they'd settle for just having a good fight to show and right now only and Adamek and Haye seem to present any real novelty.
I've come to enjoy your posts but this one is no good. LOL. True. Oh, sure. What a blockbuster event that will be. Showtime is inviting the nail in the coffin by accepting that. If I were them I'd steer plenty clear of that bout unless I wanted my middle name to be "net loss." God forbid the Lopez-Marquez fight falls through cuz then that reduces Showtime's night to only broadcasting a complete turd and I can assure you if this were to happen Showtime would abandon that Klitschko-Povetkin fight faster than a backwoods teenage mom would her newborn infant. And for Showtime's sake, please don't let there be an MMA card on that night.
Well Shiiit! Don't blame HBO if even Germany don't want their audience to pay these bums! :rofl Like I said earlier, if the KLITS want to be seen on American TV, then they should make a deal with ESPN or FNF. This is where they really belong, not on HBO PPV, or Showtime PPV. These girls are free TV material.
Sorry dude the still of that video doesn't interest me enough to give it a click and watch. But, if it is some militant .. ask him to start with your punk ass.
This is it, I reckon if he fought the style he did before sanders made him panic then he would not be getting cut ! Even his owner corner screaming him to KO the guy in the chamber fight said it all, he just wont take risks the rest of the HWs are all fat
I'm not going to drop HBO. The Pac-Mayweather fight is a fight I can't miss out on. On the other hand, Vitali will be retiring soon, so this is irrelevant as far as he's concerned. HBO Sports won't be lost without showing Wlad's fights. If HBO Boxing was going down, then it wouldn't be staying up by showing Wlad's fights either. People have been saying HBO boxing was in trouble for years. That said, this is definitely ****ed up for people who want to see Wlad fight. I think HBO wants to see Wlad fight some comp that has a chance. Povetkin has NO chance. Chambers had NO chance. Iggy had a very small chance, if at any. Wlad's fight that night did him no favors. The problem is, I doubt Haye or Adamek have a chance either. HBO might just be pissed that Arreola's hype train got derailed. So much for that; they should've seen that coming at his weigh-ins. Oh well. Showtime will pick up Wlad vs Povetkin. Wlad pounds him into submission with ease. On to the next one.
Cool, then no one will even notice when HBO stops carrying the fights because they're just a drop in the bucket.
i have been saying for months/years that the heavies are crap and they should be banned until they learn how to fight!By getting out of the fecal matter known as the heavyweight division HBO has done the smart thing in trying to restore the credibility of the sport. it can do that by using its using its resources to support the lighter weights where fighters know how to box perhaps they could put together a lt welter or feather super 6! instead of spending a ton of money to support the worst weight class in boxing (with the worst champions in the weight classes history) put that money to better use. `Fu(k the Kbros and Fu(k the heavyweights!
It's funny that people think that just cuz the Klitschko Bros arent that popular in the states that the rest of the world doesn't love them. Kind of like the World Cup. We call it Soccer not to popular in the US, but in the rest of the world it's called football, and is the biggest sport.
