True, but I wasn't referring only to his picks....just the way he talks during the fight....I've heard some crazy stuff.
I really don't think it's that. They have put on Wlad fights before (obviously) but when he produces performances such as in the Imbragimov/Rahman fights it's no wonder they don't want him on. Vitali was also on HBO before. However, after his lengthy retirement he was an unknown quantity (i.e. would be become injured again, people get turned off at the name Klistchko etc...). Now that Vitali has almost retired it's a wise move by HBO not to invest in airing his fights. Wlad is nearly the same. Retirement will come soon for him and if he is going to producing boring fights then why show him?
HBO released this statement earlier today. ""HBO bought Klitschko vs. Haye for June 20. Unfortunately, that fight is no longer available to us. So, Ross Greenburg and his staff elected to pass on a replacement fight and be poised to do another heavyweight fight, hopefully, with Wladimir Klitschko, in the fall."" I hope Wlad does a fight in the fall with Showtime.
HBO just wants to make a profit, like any good business. Wlad/Chagaev wont get the fans attention in the states, I dont know anyone that even knows who Chagaev even is. ****, Wlad himself isn't exactly that popular in the states either, especially after his unification fight where he was booed by the american fans during the post fight interview with Max Kellerman, also on his way out of the arena that night. Haye/Wlad is what HBO bought, instead they wanted to shove Chagaev/Wlad down their throat instead. HBO pretty said **** you to Wlad and his team, you either give me what we payed for or were walking. Wlad wouldn't wait for Haye, and HBO walked away.
HBO paid for Wlad-Haye on June 20. How can you still be attempting to make this argument at all given that Haye isn't even allowed to TRAIN (doctor's order apparently) until the end of July? The 3 week delay was a lie, Wlad knew it, and so he decided to take a more meaningful fight for June 20 instead. If HBO should be annoyed at anyone, it's Haye.
Wlad/Chagaev is one of the most important fights in this age of heavyweight boxing.... Finally, we get a ring magazine champion.... And if im not mistaken, Chagaev's belt might be on the line.... With that said, now we got some sort of clarirfication... Belts are gonna be 100% Klitschko.... btw: Chagaev betas Haye so I dohn't get HBO's thinking... I hope ESPN does what they did with the Vitali/Cokemez fight..... It's #1 vs. #3.... What more can you ask for~??
Thats all good and well, but put yourself in HBO's shoes. Thats say you went to look at a car, you loved the way it looked and ran, and you tell the dealer I will have the money for you next week. You both shook hands and you were told the car wont be sold to anyone else. You comeback a week later and the dealer tells you the car has been sold. Your obviously pissed off and ready to storm off, he tells you theres another car just as good here, you should take a look at. You check it out and you know right off the bat the car is not as good and it's not what you want. This is the samething people are getting pissed off at HBO about. HBO bought Haye/Wlad, they liked the hype and knew it would translate into more viewers. Now that it's Wlad/Chagaev, HBO doesn't want it and dont think it will make them the money Haye/Wlad would have. I dont blame them for not picking up this fight, it would be a bad business decision.
Just why the hell now is my Pac example so bad?? Especially referring to his lone fight at 140 against THE MAN. Is it so different to you, only because it's Pac and he's p4p? Cause other wise, I just can't see why you're bitchin about my "example".
