HBO are asses. they systematically ruined boxing over the last two decades any real fan knows this.

Showtime & the Germans are the ones rekindling boxing's spirit. I would throw a barbeque if HBO folded.

 

Pavlik won't go to 168 he can't handle the extra weight. We all saw how poorly he did vs Taylor in their rematch and Hopkins. Pavlik's prime fighting weight is 160. It suits his frame.


Bute? Ha! Bute knows the S6 will run for 2 odd years and will keep bullshitting about how he'll fight the winnedr knowing full well that's so far off he'll have milked the Canadian fans left right and centre for almost 3 years by then and that's even *if* he decides to fight them! personally I think he's spinning a line.

 

Pavlik's record at, near, and above 168 is 13-1 with 11 KO's. Now make me a list of all the fighters who scored unanimous decisions over Jermain Taylor. I'll help you out. The list includes Kelly Pavlik, and . . . . . ?

Pavlik was not invited to the tournament because Sauerland does not want Pavlik anywhere near Abraham. Bute was not invited because Sauerland doesn't want him anywhere near Kessler or AA. End of story.

 

:huh You make Pavlik sound like he's some all conquering warrior who could defeat those two easily, (imo he'd beat AA but not Kessler) instead of what he actually is, a solid, decent but fairly limited fighter at championship level.

Don't worry, he will eventually fight your Froch... He personally chose to immediately fight Andrade again before moving to bigger and better things.

Fact is..before Froch fought Taylor, Bute easily had better overall opposition.

I don't think so, since it will be a one-sided battering. The Froch myth will have been exploded by then anyway.

 

After Saturday Carl Froch will have fought 9 of his last 10 fights in the UK....

Lets see how Librado Andrade vs Bute plays out before any speculations about HBOs plans. Bute is very good but he havnt got kesslers jab to keep Andrade at a safe distance for 12 rounds.

 

I'd vote with No10 - Showtime probably has a lock on the winner. Not to mention, the winner will take a much needed gimme fight when this is all over.

Speculating on an opponent for the winner is pointless - if you include a stay-busy fight, that's 6 fights away!! A million things could happen.

Pavlik will make fine money, though - HBO grossly overpays so he's in a good spot. How many more HBO spots Bute gets is a question. Unless there's a Pavlik fight to be made, he could be one-and-done with them.

 

Since Bute will most likely not have any date on showtime for the next 2 years(Because of the Super Six). My guess is Bute will have no choice but to take fights against tough opposition if he wants to fight on US tv (HBO).

 

I have heard that Showtime does have a lock on the tourney winner for a couple fights, but I have no idea what the source was.

I do, however, find the assumption that the tourney winner has some inherent right to the number one spot more than a bit irritating. In fact, it's down right preposterous. Just as you said, the end of the tourney is a long way off. Bute, Andrade, Bika, Pavlik, Stieglitz, et, aren't going to sit around doing nothing, and neither are guys like Jacobs and the other prospects. A lot can, and probably will change.

 

I hope if not he fights off tv too.

Since he gave Andrade the rematch I don't think saying he has 'no choice' is quite right. It makes it sound like he doesn't WANT to do that. I suspect that is far from the truth of the situation. If Loew is saying Bute is on the roadmap I don't think it is without Bute's knowledge or consent and HBO is probably involved.
