    Williams had to eat extra to make 160. If he has lead in his pockets, then he can make 168 easily I guess. I'm worried for him at 160 against Pavlik and he is calling out Calzaghe and Bhop.....

    I can't argue with that ... I'm going with Williams to pull it off by the way ... I don't think that Pavlik should even defend that title anymore ...

    Yeah, of course HBO would love to snatch the winner off of Showtime, but Showtime will probably put up a fight.

    I think the winner of the tournament should be spotted number one. He will have to beat Bute to be the undisputed champion though.

    One interesting aspect about Bute is that he only picked up the IBF belt because Calzaghe dropped it to fight Manfredo (which really was kindoff a bizarre choice).

    Just to clarify my position. I do not consider the belts to be important at all and think that Butes resume easily qualify him for the tournament ahead of Dirrel, Ward, Abraham and Taylor (in that order). I do however think this tournament rocks :happy

    I think it's reasonable that the tourney determines #1 contender at SMW - resume comparison at the time will matter, but it'd be almost impossible for someone to match it.

    BUT - I don't think the tourney re-establishes linearity unless Bute falls off the map. It'll depend on how the tourney goes, too - you can still get to the elimination round with an embarrassing loss in the round robin. Alot of "ifs" here.

    Yeah but Bute didn't pick it up being vacant though.He won it from Berrio.

    I don't think that Bute's resume holds more rank than Taylors ... and I think for the fact that Abraham is undefeated, he has more to put on the line than any title ... Bute should've been picked up ... I don't think that Ward is going to stay in the tournament ... I think he's going to pull out the first chance he gets rather it be after getting a title belt or after a loss.

    I would wonder if HBO wouldn't take on someone (who pulled out of the tournament w/ a title) someone who was up and coming ... and who had been on HBO and was just using the Super 6 to get a strap.

    Someone like Ward, Dirrell, or even Taylor ... hey there's Kelly Pavlik who you can make more money off of if you fought him - Bute and the WBO champion (possible unification bouts) and i'm sure HBO would glady accept those guys despite it messing up the tournament. There are two alternates ... from what I hear ... that leaves room for someone to come up lame on an "injury" ... have a dispute over money or venue ...

    There are several reasons I don't think the tourney winner automatically becomes number one in the division.

    The end of the tourney is so far away. A lot can, and will, happen apart from the tournament.

    In addition, if you look at the current Ring rankings, you'll see that 4 of the top 6 are not even in the tourney.

    Solely for the sake of debate, consider the possibility of Bute going on the ramapage and beating Andrade again, grabbing the WBO title from Stieglitz, and beating a version of Pavlik that just beat Williams and Bika. Wouldn't the tourney winner be forced to Fight Bute in order to be the clear number one? Like I said, 2011 is a long way off, and a lot can happen.

    There is no question about Pavlik fighting at SMW. He doesn't fight there anymore though. He is MW Champ that's where he wants to be. He has made no statements about wanting anything to do with this tourney.

    If Pavlik grabs the WBO and IBF super middleweight titles the super six becomes point less.

    I think Pavlik will lose to Williams but in the case that happens Pavlik is still in line for an immediate title shot at the next weight class. He's a bonafide to 5 contender once he steps on the supermiddle scene.

    The article where KP supposedly made a bunch of negative comments was base on hear say and rumour, not an actual interview. The article that appeared a few days BEFORE that said: "Pavlik said he was not asked to be involved, but would have been interested" and was based on an actual interview.

    An article based on rumours said one thing. An article based on an actual interview said something else. I'll roll with the one based on an interview.

    A fight with Bute at MSG is already in the pipeline. Both guys just need to win next time out. Pavlik will not stay at 160 much longer.
