In reality: Golovkin 2-0 Canelo Kovalev 1-1 Ward Lomachenko lost, but he was like 3-4 fights in? Where did you get the idea HBO hates Canelo & Ward? the commentary teams were pulling for the North American both times, blatantly Kellerman for Ward but also Jones, and all three for Canelo.
HBO built Broner up real good. They gotta get credit for that alone. The kid looked good at HBO, then he went to Showtime and got his **** pushed in by Maidana. This content is protected This content is protected
He looked good at 135 as the bigger guy, although he arguably lost twice. When he moved up his deficiencies were exposed. Mostly hype let's be honest about it.
And HBO offered Ward numerous financially rewarding deals. When Ward finished the S6, HBO was really pushing for him to be the next big thing.
Maybe not today, since he hasn't done much as of late. But he knows wtf he is doing. If only he would focus more on his Ringstar stable, and less on PBC. He has some good prospects on his Ringstar roster.
The list seems endless. There was some obsure HW I believe who the drunk guy liked...christmas something or other...l'm drunk. Cant recall..
The guy already lost 2 fights before the Maidana fight on most peoples sorecards, but got gifts from the judges. Don't act like he wasn't a hypejob then and just got exposed. He just lost on the official cards too for a change.
Loma would take Mikey-Son of Salido to school. I still don’t like the way Mikey slunk his way out of his fight with Salido, when things were starting to really heat up. Plus I’m tired of hearing him call out Tarzan, only to end up watching him fight Jane.
Jason Litzau they tried to build this kid up but he had one of the worst chins in recent memory. I actually felt sorry for him when Broner destroyed him in his last loss.
Some of these posters are pretty damn cynical. HBO aired boxing. To push the sport and get viewers they had to hype fighters. It's kind of the point. And all the fighters they hyped were also hyped by posters on forums like these. And whoever called hamed n margarito hype jobs really doesn't understand boxing. And hbo didn't drop hamed, hamed dropped boxing. And margarito? The guy had a long amazing career. He had wins and losses to some of the best of the era. He beat cotto senseless for gods sake. Insane war with Paul just a couple. And hbo never dropped him either. He screwed himself and hbo still showed him after. Cloud, Mitchell, guys like these are Legit examples of hype jobs. And you can't blame hbo for tricking some of you into being fans of guys like broner. They just let him be a moron on a world screen and ya'll ate it up.
I think the worst people HBO hyped were their own abysmal commentary team. Max Kellerman is a an embarrassing shill, Lederman's mind is shot to pieces and Lampley, well I'll let you make your own mind up about him.
