Agreed. Although I thought B-Hop got jobbed - Jermain fulfilled his destiny by dethroning Hopkins. His hype was justified and fulfilled.
LOL, I'm just hating.. He's one of the best even though he never tried to get a rematch with Barrera. I think he knew his time was up and got off the train.
I don't think Hopkins got jobbed and I'm a Hopkins fan. The first fight was a draw at best but the rematch was a close yet clear victory for JT in my opinion.
i think they were trying to do something with anthony peterson with the whole build up **** they did for his fight vs rios and then he fights like a sissy.
Alexander is still being hyped up. Why is this guy still getting HBO fights when he lost 3 of his last 4 fights
Jermain Taylor? Like ****. A young Taylor gave Hopkins all he could handle, went to war with Pavlik, gave hell to Winky, and on and on and on. Taylor fought every name around his weight while he was fighting. If that's a hype job, I'd love if we'd get some more. Taylor was a fighter and a champion.
Agreed. I don't understand how guys who beat legitimate top fighters are considered to be "hypejobs". Not every good fighter is great, and Taylor was a legitimate top 10 pound for pound fighter, unified champion and lineal champ at one point. I had him 1-0-1 against Hopkins (who just gave away way too many rounds in their series), drawing Winky who was top 5 P4P at the time (who also gave away the last couple rounds in a huge error), and holding his own against a number of other top guys. He's no hall of famer, but he should at least be mentioned in the same breath as Fernando Vargas, who I haven't seen anyone call a hypejob and who got the same treatment from HBO. Ricardo Williams is a much better example. Jury is still out on guys like, say, Mike Alvarado, who somehow has been on HBO or HBO PPV 3 or 4 times. Jury's still out on Berto too, who has made some waves but really hasn't beaten any top guys and had one of the easier paths to a title in recent memory. I think the jury is still out on this guy too, but I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Cris Arreola yet. Or if you want to go MUCH further back, Pinklon Thomas.
Dude you didn't even read the first page lol. I agree with your point Taylor was a legit fighter who didn't necessarily live up to full potential, but not a hypejob
