Yeah the only thing I can think of this is that maybe because it was a draw as opposed to a full fledged loss? That is still a robbery of a deserved win I know but an outright loss I think may have triggered the meltdown from them.
Yeah they jumped right on that Margarito thing ... How many years after the fact? Next month, Lampley will expose that there was something fishy about Ali-Liston II. I believe HBO at its best is probably the best. But they also feed us "keep our house promoters happy" **** like Shiming and GGG/Kovalev vs. no-hopers (Muhammadi, Monroe Jr.) in mismatches, not to mention that horrid Alvarado-Rios fight where an ill-prepared boxer was used for target practice, and going dark for August and September. If HBO wants to be the gold standard, it needs to be timely on its stances and fair all around -- Why didn't it investigate the shenanigans around Alvarado-Rios after the fact and expose how it was allowed to take place (and why HBO chose to televise it when one of the participants is by all accounts in no fit condition to fight)? Why not investigate some of these curious judging calls rather than just say, 'Wow, didn't see that coming, we disagree.'? I could go on and on. I've been watching HBO fights for years and some of the best of the best have happened there. But they are hardly crusaders against all that is wrong in boxing -- some of that which is wrong is perpetrated by them, or at least aided by them.
No it isn't. There's nobody else on the planet held to those standards. Rigo has always taken flash knockdowns. He doesn't come close to losing though.
Came pretty close to losing to cordoba. Honestly his hanging in to the top 10 by a tread and is on the slide
No his not p4p the becuase his inactive e doesn't face top opponents and looks dull and avergae against bums
Held to what standards? Having to fight somebody noteworthy in 2 years and not looking average against a journeyman in his most recent fight? He's lost his place in the top 5 and even top 10 arguably.
You've not said anything here. Either you can explain why it's wrong to remove someone off of P4P list after 2 years of not doing anything of note (and this is a somewhat subjective criteria) or prove that we're biased/displaying some sort of double standard against Rigondeaux.
Let's review the ring rankings 10. Bradley--lost in 2014 and has done nothing of note since (Rios and Vargas are completely mediocre at 47) 8/7 pac, canelo--both lost by a lot to Floyd in recent memory 6 Crawford--no big fights in 1.5 years 4. Ward--just recently started fighting again Ggg/Kovalev/Gonzalez--all legit Rigo beat Donaire and Agbeko in 2013. That's a huge year and he's stayed active enough since to not be removed like Ward. He has slipped a couple spaces, but putting 10 people in front of him is biased.
Yeah, 2 years ago and since then has done nothing at all, not even slightly noteworthy and looked bad in his last outing against a totally terrible opponent. It's not even comparable to what Bradley and others have been doing, who are facing not elite but decent enough fighters. I mean to compare it to Canelo is even worse who's had 4 major victories in a row now since his loss. Ward yeah, take him off. He doesn't deserve to be on the list.
I thought Lampley was despicable in the way he attacked Margarito and made excuses for Cotto's short comings. His bias as a commentator is out of control. Where was this righteous indignation in the build up to the Manny-Margarito fight.
