HBO's Pockets are deeper than Sho's . . . they just have to stop throwing their money away on the Big Boys who want a higher premium for the garbage they produce in the ring. they should kiss back up to Oscar's ass and put the better policy back in place . . . no heavyweight fights:bart
People say how boring floyd is yet he seems to draw each and every time, he is the biggest draw in boxing and will be drawing at least 1m buys whoever he fights
It doesn't look like he drew 1m vs Guerrero. Some of the current options are better, some worse, but none are automatic to hit the break even, if that's 1.1-1.2m
SHO has the bigger PPV card with Floyd, but if you compare the subscription value for boxing fans HBO is still a tier above. Though SHO is getting much better, KC/Rosado was good , Boner/Maidana looks to be good. At the end of the day, competition is good.
Me too, and don't get me wrong, most of my prefered fighters and fights are on HBO, but you can't really fault SHO on their business model - their chosen demographic watches fights between 135 and 154 involving at least 1 US or Mexican fighter and that's just what they provide. It's a sorry time when boxing fans are arguing over who's the better broadcaster, but to be fair your OP was really kinda mild compared with the sh#tstorm it provoked.
U are a ****ing Idiot!!!! Showtime is owned by CBS!!!! CBS is the biggest and Richest Television Network in America... in other words CBS are the Ny Yankeess and Showtime is Their Minor League team!!! They pay the Actors on 1/2 Men over 1 million per episode for a couple years now and counting!!!!...CBS is worth ten's of not Hundreds of Billions!!! Anyway do your research before u spew stupid ****!!! If Floyd stay Undefeated...I have a feeling his last fight will be on CBS not Showtime PPV (they will Give him 100 million Guarantee) and CBS will make it an event like their Superbowl broadcast... Do you ppl realize that Companies pay up to 10 million for 1 min Ads During the Superbowl!!! Do u know how much money CBS could make off that fight?? :deal
Interesting that you mention CBS showbox, since HBO is owned by Time Warner. I have found it pretty amusing that the Time Warner/CBS rivalry has been extended to SHO/HBO whose feud is wrapped up with the TR/GBP feud.. which has a large effect on the sport. Also, you might be right about Floyd final match on CBS not PPV - as long as they can make a match that draws all the sports fans. I can only think of one good matchup for that... but by the time the event rolls around maybe there will be an alternative.
HBO gives better fights at this point. They got rid of boring fighters and matchmakers. The best fighters are on HBO - Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko, Adonis Stevenson, Sergey Kovalev, Gennady Golovkin, Provodnikov, etc. Showtime put all eggs in one basket with Mayweather. It was a good event due to Canelo but I am afraid that the next fight will not be a success. The fact that they are considering Amir Khan as an opponent is pathetic. Their other big joker is Andre Warttke. Compare last weekend Wilder v Firtha and Hopkins v Murat with this weeknd HBO card. It is clear who is the top network.
Floyd is a jackass. You think it's all an act? Oscar would be a PPV king in any era, as Tyson would be. Floyd is PPV king because there isn't anyone left. The day a PPV king is one who wins his fights basically on defense and can't even hurt an opponent is one WEAK day and wack era.
HBO sucks, they've gone right down the tubes ever since they hired that unqualified clown Max Kellerman
