Casual fans are general sports fans. The press release said American fight fans. Fight fans do know the difference. And it is a major league insult.

It is easy to tell the difference. HBO wanted Vitali to retire now, so it's sour grapes from them.

I dont know about that the cold war mentality especially with the hyperbole of the 1980's means a lot of citizens naturally have a dislike for anything linked to the soviet union, How many times have they been called russian by people also a lot of teh old timer boxing journalist was taught that they were the " evil empire " most of their lives... its not the only reason but it does play a part in it.

    I think it's combination of the 2.

If the K brothers where americans they would have a lot of fans in America. But they are "russians".

And it is true that americans don't care about sports (one reason why they prefer "their football" to real football), they only care about entertainment. You can be the best in the world, if you don't talk trash dawg then you're boring.

What would that be? The insidious "anti-White" conspiracy that's being promoted by HBO executives behind the scenes? Funny how it took so long for the whole thing to play out. You figure that if they wanted to prevent the American public from seeing the Klitschko brothers because of their race, they wouldn't have spent a decade giving both of them main even slots on World Championship Boxing until the economy went into the toilet.

There have been a lot of ****ing idiots have been making this insinuation around here. I've seen several other posts complaining about the "house fighters" recently, but I didn't think that they were worth responding to. The fact is that it's not in HBO's financial interest to air these boring HW squash matches over and over again. If you want to blame someone for the Klitschkos' recent fights not being televised in the US, look to your White brethren in this country who aren't interested in watching the them fight.

So Pacquiao's recent spike in popularity here in the states can be solely attributed to his creative trash talking in your estimation?

Jesus christ did you not see the Haye/Valuev fight? It was atrocious. One of the worst I have ever seen. The guy ran and threw 11.9 punches a round. He landed about 5 punches a round most of which were Jabs to Valuevs chest. The fight was a disgrace. And HBO does not find Vitali boring he has been on there twice since his comeback. The Arreola fight was a thorough beating. Vitali has never had a boring fight other than maybe the Johnson fight where the guy was too scared to fight.

Most casual fans in America don't watch combat sports.
