I really thought HBO was stepping up their game in terms of Money Management - how fast that **** flew out the window. So disappointed.

It's a good point. HBO rides a fighter's jock until they lose once - which is ridiculous and bad for the sport. Networks are a big part of the reason why great fights don't get made. If fighters, and sanctioning bodies, and promoters, and networks continue to care about protecting undefeated records more than they care about real competition, this sport will continue to be a fringe sport for hardcore fans only.

Berto's fights alternate between jr. welters and journeyman welters. Kotelnik was considered at one point for this fight. Now it'll probably be Vivian Harris after this.

Al Haymon's MAIN relationship is with TIME WARNER, hbo is owned by time warner, he has been and still is one of the biggest CONCERT PROMOTERS in the world, he got into boxing as a favor of the late Vernon Forrest because Vernon asked him to help him get the shane fight when shane was dodging forrest and haymon was the only one vernon knew who could make it happen. boxing "advising" is still more of a side hustle for him because concerts is still his thing

They really shoot themselves in the foot with Berto, they pay for him to be on PPV but Martinez who is recognized can barely make HBO fights these days without having to fight some of the marquee names in the sport.

Wow. Just wow. Jean Pascal got 1 050 000 for his last fight (I guess Sad Chad earned more money, but still).

    HERNANDEZ????:nut

you do not know what you are talking about. haymon was appointed by the ahem, to wow and awe the fighters with his connections, while you know-whatting cuts out of their paydays. Like Arum said a while ago, he was purpsoefully installed by (cough). and it sure as hell isn't to make the fighters as much money as they can possibly make (unfortunately). bottom line, he's a tool.

How the **** are boxing fans on a boxing forum this unaware Freddy "El Riel" Hernandez?

No, he isn't a superstar or anything but he's one of the most dangerous bangers at welterweight and holds some very good wins. It would not surprise me in the least if he knocked the hype-flavoreds stuffing out of Berto.

I have seen Freddy do his thing, he is not a superstar by any means, but can hold his own. I don't think this fight will be as easy as some you think for Berto to win. I think monetarily/financially (outside the ring Berto getting a payday, Freddy nothing in comparison) he is getting spoon fed as a payday.....But, I think Freddy will give him a run for his money.

He is not fast, but he is a solid Strong Puncher, if he gets lucky and catches Berto, our Hatian friend can be a in trouble.

I'm no Berto fan, but will give him credit if he wins impressively here.

This ignorant backlash against Hernandez like he doesn't even belong in the ring with Berto is quite shocking.

Maybe you guys are right though. Maybe what's really shocking is HBO pouring revenue into one of their hypejob projects. Stop the presses!

    this is Freddy Hernandez....

He is a pretty solid fighter and should be the best opponent that Berto faced since Collazo
