HBO is stupid to boycott Klitschko-Chambers

It depends on the fight. Fact is, HBO spent a hell of a lot more promoting and staging a dismal nothing fight between a man who had just gotten his ass kicked (Arreola) and a club fighter (Minto) than they would have to shell out for this Wlad fight. Now, surely you would agree that a network that claims to offer the best, most important fights would have an awfully difficult time justifying this and many other decision.

Fact is, HBO cares only about ratings. That is why they show dreadful, meaningless fights like Arreola vs. Minto and disregard infinitely more important ones.

And you're a damn fool if you're a fan of boxing and still won't pay for the other, BETTER fights HBO spends their money on and does air.

Wlad never fights boring. He is a superior technican boxer with an ATG Jab, a right hand and great footwork.

61.000 people watch his fight against Chagaev.

And Tickets are going fast for 20the of March. 51.000 people will be at Düsseldorf.

I think we're all realistic that this sucks if you're a fan of Wlad Klitschko and/or a member of Eddie Chambers' immediate family.

Truthfully though HBO has given Wlad enough leeway with prior fights that if they truly don't show a Wlad fight, you can't get upset with them. Think of all the fights they've shown recently from Wlad that weren't competitive. Not only that but I have to imagine they're none too pleased about fiddling around with their schedule to fit Wlad in twice (remember, they have to occupy two time slots for Wlad. One live and then one replay).

It's just fiscally possible for them right now.

So presumably HBO should have televised all of Erdei's mandatory defences? After all, he was the LH Champ and all his mandatories had "earned" their shot right?

HBO shouldn't be obliged to show fights just because the HW Champ is involved - they should evaluate every fight on its merits and decide if it's worth buying.

Some of you need to study up on marketplace economics. HBO is in the business of making money, and boxing thankfully is part of that equation.

They don't have a moral obligation to boxing as a whole or specific fighters, either, so all this "he earned his shot" stuff is ludicrous.

HBO's boxing budget was cut this year, and they are having to make do. If they have to choose between Wladimir/Chambers and Pavlik/Martinez, which fight do you think makes the most sense for them to air?

They have employees who study these numbers for a living, and I doubt anyone was championing an international broadcast of what figures to be another **** HW fight.

Better to use that money or more important ventures so that not all the big fights this year have to go PPV. I thought HBO did much better last year with Mosley/Margarito, Cotto/Clottey and also trying to stage Pavlik/Williams at the end of the year.

You have to be a fool or else a totally obsessed Klitschko fan to cancel HBO over this. As someone else mentioned, they'll probably air WK/Povetkin and surely would take WK/Arreola.

Now this I agree with you on.

I understand HBO being behind Arreola. He's an entertaining fighter, despite an appalling lack of discipline but I think HBO should have held his fight with Minto to the same standard they're applying to Wlad. Arreola-Minto was a nothing fight and I don't think they should spend lots of money on fights like this just because they like one of the fighters. That's how you end up with fights like RJJ-Frazier and Mayweather-Brussels.

Regardless of who you are, HBO should have the option to pass on a fight if they don't think it's good enough.

Cut and dry. If you give a **** enough, start a ****ing bake sale and give the proceeds to HBO so they can buy the fight.

His record at heavyweight is hardly more impressive. He's got one excrutiatingly boring fight with Valuev, a sloppy, unimpressive win against Barrett and the Ruiz fight coming up. Sorry, but if you think Haye is going to fight at heavyweight the same way he did against crusierweight you were born without a brain.

Haye always, always had a height, strength, reach and size advantage over his opponents at cruiserweight. Now all he has is speed. He will not fight the same way and he likely won't be a particularly exciting fighter.

That wasn't Wlad's fault though. Iggy didn't come to fight.

We really should've known it was going to happen too. The entire hype for the fight was Ibragamov going "Yeah I'm going to retire soon. My mother doesn't like me fighting."

    Should've ****in known

LOL, Chambers is the #1 contender, he's a very good fighter, who just beat someone as big (but not as skilled), as Wlad.

Tell me, if not Chambers, who should Wlad be fighting? There is NO ONE else out there at this time.
