Machado was actually hurt by the shot Corrales landed at the same time, but he was able to stay up while Jez couln't prevent himself from collapsing onto his stomach.

Wild, hyper-entertaining fight. Corrales was ahead, but Machado had his moments prior to the kayo and had his foe chicken dancing on at least one other occasion. Plus, he was starting to land the jab just before the kayo, so it didn't shock me that much when he put something behind it.

Machado channeling his inner Andy Lee with this come from behind KO victory!

is this a 2nd belt for Puerto Rico?

Never heard of Machado before but I was quite impressed by Corrales up until the finish. Credit to Machado for getting up off the floor and coming from behind to pull out a KO win. Roach got another world champion.

Machado also had him hurt in the sixth. Corrales may have more tools, but he's got less chin.

Yeah Corrales is a beast. He's super fast and unorthodox, he just seems to have that Amir Khan durability and fades in the second half.

Not only a bad chin but dumb move by lunging in. It was part luck but also part timing. He had been coming in head first all night.

Meh, not really. Plenty of people were already high on Machado coming in, and Corrales if we're honest never looked immortal. He was just lucky to become a champ as he caught a shot Uchiyama when his decline began to steepen rapidly, but remember that he barely scraped by the former champ in the rematch (even though Uchiyama was ancient for the weight range), and went life and death with a guy with a dozen losses in his next defense (and last before this one). Corrales was never that impressive on the eye test and his resume is only impressive to somebody that doesn't realize how miraculous it was that Uchiyama was able to stay in the form he did and remain unbeaten to such a ripe age. He was living on borrowed time by the first Corrales match.

This honestly isn't 1% the upset that Mimoune over Eggington was, and probably countless others from this year.

Yeah he is very quick and unorthodox. He's not an easy guy to fight. Think I've only seen him fight 3 or 4 times but he was down in 3 of them, IIRC he was down x 2 in his last fight (might be remembering that wrong, though)

I'd been meaning to do a thread on him for quite sometime, I mentioned him in a thread I did on Puerto Rican fighters to watch for about 2 years ago, I mellowed a little on him after one of his his recent performance, but I had a gut feeling tonight if he could weather the storm, he could catch Corrales with his **** chin, with something big and put him down, and it played the way I saw it perfectly.:D

Machado had already timed him once coming in back in the sixth, as well. When that happens once, it's luck. A second time...maybe a bit more than luck.

Yeah, I was instantly reminded of Golovkin vs. Geale, surprised Lampley didn't jump on that. (as I'm pretty sure he creamed his pants in that moment, and went on to put a very fine point on Golovkin landing a KO punch while taking a flush bomb for quite some time afterward)

Corrales hasn't done anything to be mentioned in the same breath with Khan.
