I personally didn't have it too close, I had him leading by at least 2-3 rounds. I'll rescore it some other time. Scary thing is if Linares didn't get that knockdown, the fight would have been a draw. I think the two judges were giving Campbell way too much credit in the middle rounds and giving Linares nothing. How could it be that close?
i scored the fight 114-114 really close fight wouldn't argue either fighting winning luke came back great after the knock down, if he won the last two rounds he could of knicked it on my score card, said before the fight Campbell needed a good start to build on unfortunately didn't get that but eventually found it after the 3rd round
I'm confused, are you saying I scored some of those rounds wrong? Linares clinched the fight with the last three, it was close before that.
Today was actually a great day for boxing. Parker won Linares won Dorticos won Cheers everyone. Let's hope for good fights soon.
Over the course of four fights, Eddie has set Linares up for life and paid the college fees for Linares' great grandchildren. No wonder Jorge can afford to buy a property in London! And if Linares and his wife do have any more children, however many, he should make Eddie Hearn godfather to them all.
I also had Campbell winning 6,7,8 & 9 but he visibly took his foot off the gas from the 10th on, Luke was entirely to inactive in the 11th and Linares just wanted it more in the 12th. It looked to me like Campbell for some reason thought he had the fight won after 9 rounds and went into prevent mode. It was a close fight, I was pulling for Luke and he had a real shot at winning. I think he's really going to kick himself, when he watches the tape and see's how it was there for the taking if he would have fought the last 3 rounds like he did 4 thru 9.
Don't be too hasty: Hearn might want to throw yet more good money Linares' way to have a rematch with Campbell in the U.K, maybe even outdoors next May or June. Because after all, Jorge's London property can't be cheap to own and maintain. Every little helps.
Whether it was taking his foot off the gas or Linares adjusting, with feints, movement, and stepping his offensive commitment up... Linares took over in the last three rounds. Campbell was in a position to win through 9 I thought, but Linares showed his championship cred and Campbell didn't quite. And Campbell with the 12th gave up the right to dispute the decision.
That's not what we should be taking from this fight. After this fight I'm super interested in Mikey-Linares and more than before think Linares will be a really difficult technical challenge for Mikey. And so as the HBO guys said would Campbell.
