HBO & lack of Canelo V Golovkin build up

HBO have been pathetic in promoting big fights since Mayweather left. It is not like they dont have budget or experts who are well informed.

Very disappointing from them.

 

Stupid move from them.

They have to start promoting now to lay the seeds in peoples minds that boxing is not dead and there is a REAL fight just around the corner.

 

HBO and everyone around GGG and Canelo are smart. They will start marketing after 26th of August.

3 weeks to promote a mega fight like this? It should take months.

 

The Mayweather fight is stealing all the thunder. As jonze86 said, would be stupid to try to outmarket that fight. DLH was irate with the Mayweather fight being so close to the Canelo fight. GBP promotions and HBOs hands are tied. The fight will still do well but it could have been huge if Mayweather fight wasn't happening.

I'm not paying for the Mayweather PPV. Canelo vs GGG is must buy.

 

They should be doing guerrilla marketing.



Pumping short clips and ads out there insinuating that the May / Mc fight is a fraud and that Golovkin / Canelo is the real deal. Maybe even stuff that insinuates that Canelo/GGG will wipe the bad taste of that farce from people's mouths.

The advantage of this is that Mayweather and McGregor are very aware that the status of their moneygrab fight amongst boxing fans is recycle bin material. It's a sore point. Conor has already taken several swipes at Golovkin and Canelo, criticizing their technique etc ( ) while hyping himself and PBF up.

If McMay get into a full blown publicity war with GGG/Canelo, the hype will automatically rub off on the real fight because people will start wondering which fight is really the real deal. Then after McFloyd crashes, the base for a real rock em sock em campaign will be already laid and the promotion so much easier.

I post about Canelo / GGG on every MayGregor thread I can find on the interwebz.

 

Agree 100%. It doesn't even have to be a full blown campaign.

All they have to do is pick a fight with McFloyd.

The two dumb loudmouths will do Golovkin and Canelo's work for them.

 

No matter what the Mexicans will side with canelo so in that department its sealed for canelo and GGG

Floyd use to have loads of Mexicans buying his ppv but they are very loyal and will side with canelo

The foundation was set up before the circus was announced, most fans already knew by then which fight they would be paying for. After next week DLH/HBO will probably start to remind us.

 

NOPE. There is a massive anti-Canelo contingency within his own people. Lot of Mexicans will be rooting for GGG.

It's just not as appealing or watchable as the Floyd/Conor fight, that's just a fact lol.

It's a good fight but May Mac is better.

May/Mac = 2 p4p #1 fighters from two similar sports squaring off. Everyone's gonna watch that.

 

The casuals/partisans bring the money because there are far more of them than true boxing fans.

Example, how many true and well informed boxing fans are buying the Mayweather PPV?
