Well the buildup and trash talking for Mayweather McGregor has been more entertaining. Canelo and Triple G are more respectful of one another, and don't speak english too well, so the press tour won't be as combative like Mayweather McGregor. And then you got the whole Boxing vs MMA stuff and the MMA community tuning in, so in that sense it kind of makes it unique and exciting. However in terms of high level boxing skill on display, Mayweather McGregor isn't going to match Canelo Triple G. For boxing purists, it's no comparison, but Mayweather McGregor has certainly taken on a life of its own. I'm interested in both fights, for different reasons, really Mayweather McGregor is just a warmup for Canelo Triple G, which is the fight that boxing fans are taking more seriously.
there kinda stuck. they cant promote with may/mac. nowone is gonna be talking bout it. its a good fight . stuff like this happens . ggg and canelo teams are being smart though
Once the circus leaves town, all the focus will be on Canelo Triple G. Canelo Triple G doesn't need a huge buildup anyway. It's not like Mayweather McGregor where they have to trash talk and create all these side stories to hype the fight. Canelo Triple G sells itself. You don't need to hype a fight this good. Boxing fans have been craving Canelo Triple G and can't wait for it. Boxing fans pretty much are laughing at Floyd McGregor and considering it a joke. Personally, I am looking forward to Floyd McGregor just to see what happens, but it can't compare to Canelo Triple G. But this apparently is Floyd's last hurrah, so I mean just to see him fight one more time is kinda of hard to ignore.
24/7 Canelo/Golovkin Episode 1 shows on August 26th Canelo, GGG and Trainers sit down to discuss tactics episode (a bit like the legends speak we saw for Mayweather/Pacquiao) shows the following weekend 24/7 Canelo/Golovkin Episode 2 shows the following weekend after that, the weekend before the fight. The At Last episode releasing September 1 is a fan-made edit to promote the fight. Not by HBO. All in all, terrible promotion by HBO. They put episode 1 on after mayweather/mcgregor yet put a stupid fighter & trainer discussion episode on the following weekend. This must also mean we're getting no Face Off with Max Kellerman. This is why I prefer for showtime to have this fight, HBO don't know how to promote properly at all.
Only the ones that are also UFC fans. And some (hopefully much smaller %) of the same ones that bought his last dozen PPV's hoping he'd get laid out, I guess.
even the casuals know that ggg-canelo is a real fight that will showcase the best things about the sport, so hard selling isn't required. just push hard the last 2 weeks and the event will be a huge success.
I dunno what you guys are watching, but I've had my fill of commercials about Canelo vs Golovkin. The ones with Sly about "Be Bold" in particular I've seen about a million times.
Whether people accept it or not, that bs Mayweather and McGreggor fight is hogging the limelight. While Canelo vs GGG maybe one of the biggest legitimate boxing matches. Floyd and Conner is the biggest event and will make more money than Canelo vs GGG hands down. HBO don't wanna go against that at this time.
HBO PPV lost their arses on the SOB fight! Nobody wants to see SOB cheat, but SOB cheated right in front of our eyes, Bob Bennett lied through his teeth!
