Yeah, he was competitive in both of his previous losses. This time around, he was ground down and eventually stopped. C.olor me impres sed by Mihkalenko...Perez is hardly an easy out at WW.

lol I remember that show and the theme tune very well.

Yeah give it ago. Like I said I've only heard it once so far but I liked the sound of it and I pretty much like everything they've done.

This is my favourite album of theirs. They've done another called Teen Dream which I really like too. Both are growers.

Thereabouts. In h2h terms maybe even a bit lower if you count some of the kids just starting out that haven't put together much of a resume yet.

Then you have the matter of Provodnikov & Troyanovsky, who both have fought recently at welter and could return there soon for all we know.

I think if they fought in 3 months Dmitry would win. He looked really good to me tonight and I consider Perez a better win than Zewski.

But at the same time Pono showed great improvements in the Zewski fight compared to his fight with Steve Claggett.

I think the pressure would be too much for Pono, and Pono still has impulses to "fight like Mike Tyson" which wouldn't favor him against Dmitry.

Belaev unfortunately as a TD loss to Ali Funeka on his resume, which doesn't look good to most observers, however it doesn't bother me that much I like him, but I think he may be somewhat limited.

Pérez is definitely a better win than Zewski but I dunno, Mikhaylenko doesn't pass the eye test quite as much as Ponomarev. Maybe it's the awkwardness (which at times seems barely controlled, sometimes making Pérez miss seemingly by accident)...or the occasionally buck-wild offense.

Ponomarev looked great against Zewski but I think Mikhaylenko at this point would rip Pono to pieces.

Pono's a bit of an anomoly in Russian boxing, not much of an amateur career; turned pro very you g, and is learning on the job. If he stays at this pace, he will be very very good

Russian boxing is so deep, idk why more of the fringe guys don't go pro early, let's not forget being behind Beterbiev and Korobov is what pushed Kovalev to America and made him the monster that he is.

Edit: mother of god, autocorrect is killing me tonight

Yeah and it doesn't help that Funeka just got stopped by a 9-7-3 guy :)-() coming directly off his TD over Belaev.

Even so, Belaev has a couple of decent Euro level names on his record (Horta, Byrne) and knocked out venerable Athumani for whatever that's worth nowadays. I think he can rebound from a points loss to Funeka. He's only 25.

I wonder if the WW divison will suddenly be considered weak if any of these guys break through and win major titles?

Yeah that doesn't look very good at all, I was going to point that out but didn't feel like typing that much.

And yeah he's too young and talented enough to write off yet.

It's funny how that works. (not the auto correct but the Kovalev bit)

Agreed, his awkwardness and ability to avoid punches didn't seem controlled in his previous fights which made him a bit nerve-racking to watch. But in this fight it showed otherwise. Unique style.
