Someone said they saw it at a theater and only about 30 people were there to see it, so I doubt 80% is accurate, but I want to know how this comes into play how does this help boxing?

Do the promoters bank all that? or do the fighters get a cut? does it count as a PPV buy for just the one showing or for each ticket.?? nobody has been able to explain this and how it works.

its okay to say you dont know guys, I just want to find someone who does.

Quite a few people posted about a lot of the southern california ones being sold out. I know Intentionalbutt or someone said the one he went to sold out.

Sheafer said 80% capacity was sold. Dan Rafael reported 70%.

    No clue.

    Here first

    http://laist.com/2009/09/20/mayweather_too_much_for_marquez.php

Mayweather's return was not the only comeback on display Saturday night. For the first time in nearly three decades boxing was back in movie theaters. Through Fathom Events, Mayweather/Marquez was shown on more than 170 screens across the country including the AMC Century City, where I watched the fight. A sold out auditorium reacting to each punch landed on the big screen in high definition made you feel like you were ringside at the fight in Las Vegas, without ever having to walk by guys handing out flyers for prostitutes.

I already admitted I'm wrong with my PPV expectations...

"PPV around 500k to 600k - I'M DEAD WRONG HERE"

But I correctly called the fight as a joke tuneup, mismatch fight and this what matters most regarding this joke fight...

I also correctly predicted that the fight venue will not sell out... What could be the reason it didn't sell out?? Floyd's is boxing's "cash cow"... His PPV did well... Yet he can't sold out an arena...;) It seems Floyd has no real considerable fanbase... Hatebase maybe...:rofl

24/7 works really well man. They have it on right after some very popular HBO shows so a lot of people see it and get hyped for the fight. Every fight that has had a 24/7 has done very well in buys.

You spoke as if the ticket sales would not even sell half of the arena. Not you are acting like you never exaggerated.

Why pay to go to the fight when you can see it in theaters now? As if you are live and there?

Hmmnn the theaters... could be a factor... But way back in June, there's already rumors that it's not selling well then fight got postponed... Do you think the slow ticket sales rumors way back in June is true??;)

No idea, it only a few thousand to sell.

When did they announce it would go to theaters?

Because when boxing went on TV, arena sales took a big hit for a bit.

I think the movie houses coverage was announced last week of August...

If the fight not postponed and pushed through in its original date last July 18, what is your guesstimate of the ticket sales and PPV numbers could have been??

The Sept 19 date numbers were:
Tickets = 12,009 sold from the 17,000 fight venue capacity
    PPV = 1 million buys

Even if it was only from 700k to 1million, still a big fight. Finally, JMM has emerged as a boxing superstar, about 2/3 of the people who watched the fight were Mexicans.
