Yes I know, that is is not because their championship policy had ceased though.

Again I agree that the lineal Champion isn't always the best in the division, but he is still the champion.

If Cotto remains at MW he'll remain the MW Champion. You can't call anyone else the champion whilst he is there. Golovkin is a highly rated title holder but he isn't a champion.

-They gradually dropped Foreman down the ratings and eventually removed him completely as it became difficult to consider him a top Heavyweight as he ceased to take on meaningful fights.

-I disagree. If Cotto or Canelo or whoever winds up with this MW lineage don't take the Golovkin challenge, it may take a little time but their lineage claim will cease to be took seriously. It will be another paper title.

Lineage can't be disputed. Period. If Cotto ducks Golovkin, he's still the 160 champ until he reties, loses or moves up. Period, end of...

A lineal champion can't be a paper titlist you idiot. The two are mutually exclusive.

Golovkin should fight Quillen, then Cotto should fight the winner. If Golovkin beat Quillin it would shut up a lot of his doubters and people acusing him of being a cherry-picking hype job. And you can talk all the **** about Cotto that you want, but you know that Golovkin Cotto would be awesome. Cotto vs. Quillin would be great too.
Golovkin shouldn't be worrying about Canelo or Ward until he cleans up everyone at 160.

I agree that Cotto is the man at 160. No argument. But do the lines get blurred IF he drains guys down to a catch weight instead of defending the the MW title at the 160 weight limit.

I think if he does that, he deserves to catch hell over it.

Yes, but that win was against the recognized and lineal champion. Sam Lanford was easily theb est middleweight during his tenuret here, even beating Ketchell easily in a non title bout, yet he was never recognized as the middleweight champion because the lineage of that title never changed hands. This is the ways its always worked whether we agree ord disagree.

That's right. Just like Roy Jones and Dariusz Michalczewski. Roy had more belts, but Dariusz (and subsequently Gonzalez, then Erdei) was lineal.

Miguel's gotta lose, change weight classes, or retire before GGG can become lineal.

Whether one wants to critique the value of being lineal or not, them's the rules.

I agree with this. Strange circumstances but like Jones, GGG is also the best fighter in the division in the opinions of most people.

    :deal

Lineal champions sometimes cheapen the lineal title - as Ali did in the late 70s and Foreman in the mid 90s - but they are still lineal champions regardless. Lineage isn't subject to sanctioning organizations or popular opinion...

Ward isn't available until he settles his promotional issues. Why else do you think he hasn't fought in over a year?

Lara is great. ....but isn't a Middleweight. It's not really a better match up against a real middleweight like Murray. Lara lost to Nelo....albeit a controversial loss.....none the less a loss all the same. GGG would rather take on Nelo if he were to fight a 154 lber. Lara doesn't have a title either.

Rubio nor Murray are bums even though you like to discredit them....I'm sure you're in a much better position as it pertains to professional prize fighting. Me personally. .....I wouldn't be in a position to call a guy like Rubio a "tomato can" and be taken seriously because I never won a world title.....I haven't even boxed professionally although I have boxed.

When did you win your world title champ? Tell me what other boxers are "tomato-cans" coming from your unique perspective.

Lara called out Triple Duck *before* the Alvarez fight. Lara DOES have a title and Lara's last fight was @ middleweight.

Lets not pretend as if Triple Duck hasn't fought any 154lb fighters before...
