I got this from an article in 07, it was the cable company gets 45 percent, HBO or Showtime gets ten percen, golden boy gets 10 percent and Floyd paid Cotto 8 million, so off the pay per view he would get like 25 million on just American pay per view, the gate for Cotto-Mayweather was 12 million with a 2 million dollar site fee he also gives GB ten percent of this. It's hard to find this info.

    You have to love this!

HBO has employed some of the most derisive Boxing "commentators" in the sport. Why? Because they could! Showtime grinds hard and takes the fighter that they happily allowed to play second fiddle to that fraud. Their fraud gets exposed and HBO is left with a gutted Boxing promotional platform.

So HBO acts exactly like an abusive jilted ex and goes to war. Screw the fans!

@danrafaelespn: HBO made it clear they dont have same business philosophy as Golden Boy anymore. No more Broner, BHop, Thurman, Seth Mitchell, fights, etc

@danrafaelespn: Schaefer said he was not that surpised by HBO's move. Said Ken Hershman called him this morning to inform him.

@danrafaelespn: Schaefer said it was first time he'd talked to Hershman since about November/December. "We had no relationship."

This is outrageous. HBO is not only giving in to the stupidity of the promotional cold war going on, but they're shooting themselves in the foot instead of trying to deliver the better package to fans and customers.

They're abandoning the momentum Hopkins has after his historic win on their network? They're foregoing any opportunity to show Khan's comeback trail? They're giving up on Andre Ward's rise to prominence? They're going to further solidify Donaire-Mares not happening? They're throwing away their lofty investment on Broner's increasing popularity? They're dumping Thurman just as he comes into his own?

The big hitters HBO has got are Marquez, Pacquiao, Bradley, Rios, and then Gamboa, Juanma, and Donaire & Garcia. That first bracket has about a year left before they square off, and the two stars out of the group are likely to retire shortly after that. The later bracket has two fighters that will definitely not fight, and there's a good permutation of fights possible, but leaving Mares out of the bunch really puts a damper on things. Those fighters are growing stars but without the best fighting the best, their potential is limited.

HBO will survive but it has dropped its stock tremendously by becoming Bob Arum's personal network.

Hopefully. Maybe Thurman can find a way out too, but leaving Haymon will not be a walk in the park.

Oh! You're right. Oh good. That leaves Rios out but he can join the party if he likes. Khan, Maidana, and Ortiz are also on the wagon.

What in the world was HBO thinking?!
