I read this on Espn.com and Maxboxing. Like Dan Rafael said, HBO must have a hidden agenda for not producing one for this fight.

Odd. I can't think of a reason why not producing one makes sense.

But the good news is that we are going to be subjected to another 24/7 series for DLH-Mayweather :patsch .

This is a big fight to boxing fans but to the general sports fans or the general public these two are really not well known especially Margo. I'm sure that's how HBO feels and that's why they're not doing one.

Maybe, just maybe, I would buy that if HBO were paying to produce these countdown shows, but its the promoter who pays for it. This is a fight that deserves to get as much exposure and publicity as possible, and it is a damn shame that HBO doesnt feel this way.

UM... two guys who dont speak (fluent) English, one with ZERO charisma (Cotto), the other is still pretty unknown with little Charisma. I'd like to see a countdown for this, but that would be booooooooooooooooooring...

But not the fight that is! This is fight of the year stuff that doesn't even need a countdown! Real warriors, not press conference warrios.

They didn't make one for Cotto/Gomez.

But they did make one for Barrera/Marquez, and Cotto speaks English just as well as those two.

Who cares if they don't speak english!! This is a fight that deserves to be seen by as many people as possible. These are the fights that will attract new boxing fans, not DLH-Mayweahter, not Hopkins-Wright. Coutndown shows help produce drama and anticipation for big fights. This is a fight that should, and will more than likely produce all of these elements.

Who cares if they don't do a countdown show? They were doing a countdown show on DLH-Forbes only because grandma and John Doe had never heard of Forbes and they wanted huge ratings.

Cotto vs Margarito doesn't need an introduction to the hardcore boxing fans and it's OUR fight anyway, not for the masses - it will do about 250.000 buys (at best) and a coundown wouldn't make grandma and John Doe buy it anyway...

Like they always say **** the hardcore fan he is going to watch anyway, what they want to do is get that ******* that never watches and well thats where Delahoya comes in. They wont hype Cotto vs Margo, they want the dollars for Hoya in Sept. He who will bring in more from the casual fan. HBO figures why compete with yourself.

for those of us who love boxing first and know what the hell is really going on this is just a load of ****, the real fight for the hardcore fan is in July.

If this doesn't tell you how HBO feels about Margarito nothing will. That network has had a serious agenda over the years to try and remove him from the welter scene. Those brainless scumbags.

Why shouldn't I care? These two warriors deserve to have a countdown show done for them. This fight is for everyone not just hardcore fans. New fans need to be made from fights like this. Keeping this fight just amongst hardcore fans is very narrow minded and will do nothing to help the sale of this fight or the careers of these two fighters for the future.
