Coming from the BIGGEST MAYWEATHER HATER I would expect that from you:lol: Hmmm let's see. You say "He could barely fill a school gym and would be nothing without Oscar and Hatton's help" Yet Hatton and Delahoya got there BIGGEST PAYDAYS by fighting Floyd:deal And so did Gatti, Judah, and Baldomir. Yeah sure Floyd is a "nobody" You STFU

Why do so many assume that this is because of some scheme of HBO? It seems to me that its just as possible thats its due to some issue with one or possibly both of the fighters, their promotors, managers, or any of their people - we just don't know!

If this is really true, i agree with you that HBO has some hidden agenda.

Most of the time, the simplist answer is the best answer. However, people are so eager to prove how smart they are that they are all too willing to create conspiricy theories.

Cotto is HBO's brightest young star. They have invested many years and dollars in his career. It is in HBO's best interest for him to do well. The HBO crew has been hyping a potential Mayweather/Cotto fight for some time now. Not only that, De La Hoya expressed interest in fighting Cotto provided that he beat Mayweather. Basically, HBO has nothing to gain by puprosely sabotaging this fight.

This fight is in July, the Mayweather/Hoya fight is in Sept. Not only will this fight not negatively impact that fight, it will probably enhance it. If the winner of this fight is hyped as a potential opponenet for the Mayweather/Hoya fight, then the success of this fight will only generate more interest in the Mayweather/Hoya fight.

WHy would they want to limit their own exposure? The reason there is no countdown is likely because HBO just doesn't feel obligated to do so.

Ask him what? WHy there aren't more TV spots available? Why if he wants to showcase his fighters he has to dip into his own pocket to put on a PPV? Boxing returning to TV isn't Arum's fault, nor HBO's. To get on TV, free tv even, they can't afford the biggest names in boxing. And those are often names that they can sell to the public. That's partially why when NBC was airing those early Saturday fights a couple years ago, they showcased young, up and coming talent like Juarez and Juan Diaz. HBO only has so many dates available for boxing. And you can bet with DLH's relationship with HBO, GBP will get a majority of those dates.

I don't think they are. He has been on HBO before. There just isn't a GBP fighter to do a countdown for like all the others had.

You mean like when they did a countdown for Jones vs. Trinidad, Pavlik vs. Taylor, Taylor vs. Wright, Cotto vs. Judah, Mayweather vs. Baldomir, and Mayweather vs. Gatti?

Dammit! Want to know what I hate the most? All my friends (that don't really follow boxing) get all the hype for the PBF/DLH, RJJ/Trinidad, PBF/Hatton, etc fed to them from espn and all the 24/7 series stuff. So they get all hyped up about THOSE fights and want to watch them, but when we do they don't get any satisfaction out of them! And when a Cotto/Margo fight comes through (which is bound to be a great fight) they go: "who the hell is that, I don't want to watch it"! And so this **** pisses me off because they are not hooking the fans that boxing should be with great matchups dammit! **** it pisses me off

Thought someone said there was, guess not then. This fight is even bigger than Cotto/Malignaggi and still that fight also got some sort of build-up by SHOWTIME or ESPN, I'm sure I saw that one. Thanks for letting me know though. :good

It was obvious there wouldn't be a 24/7, that'd be a waste of money to produce them as I can't picture enough casual fans tuning in after see those two, but I expected a half-hour countdown show. Sucks that there isn't one. I enjoy watching those shows.
